He's been integral to us this season, even if it's just the initial impact of trying to bed in a new partnership, it has the potential to have a negative effect on us. Yeah we've lost good players in the past, but that's the point, we've just started to get in our stride and develop an understanding as a side and Lucas has played a crucial part in that.
Ok, so some people are going over the top, so are the idiots who are saying we can play a midfield of Charlie and 'light as a feather' Jordan. Get real. It's a blow simply because we only have one other DM, who again isn't really a natural out and out DM and whom hasn't played all that much (though I do like him & he's done well). To not be worried slightly would be burying our heads in the sand. Hopefully Spearing will step up, but if he doesn't, well we haven't got another defensive midfielder, which is more than concerning, despite what the "oh we only need one in the big games" football purists say.

to be fair henderson did get a run in the middle of the park for sunderland. I think lucas is a huge loss for away games. in away games lucas is probably my first name on the team sheet, however for home games I wanted to see him play less. definately not happy to see him injured though as I don't think spearing can hold a candle to him even though that's exactly what some people were claiming (spearing better than lucas) at the start of the season.
