Lucas Going, Noooooooooooooooo

He's also proven to be an absolute disaster....He was part of a joke defence that conceded 4 to Bournemouth.

He's 30 years old and as slow as a sloth, now is the best time to sell.
He was the best of the back 5 that game and not at fault for the goals.

For what we'll get for him it would be silly to sell, unless as others have said we have someone coming in.

Our entire defence was shocking in that match. We had 7-8 players in the box just standing there for two of the goals.
As a CB its quite obvious you'll get part of the blame if you cant defend your own box.
He was good in the first half and awful in the second. Just like the entire defence.

But, cant believe I'm saying this, I'd let him stay until the summer. No point in selling anyone bar Sakho in January.

It's not like Klopp is stupid or something, If he let him og he has a plan behind it. Maybe he bring in someone else who can fill the void and at the same time adjust to the life at Anfield before the summer training starts. Or else he see Gomez so Close to Fitness that he doesn't need Lucas covering that position anymore. I trust Jürgen 100% on this one.

Yes, doubts remain about Lovren and Klaven, and Gomez has not played a game for us at CB. I'd much rather he continue at LB where he was flourishing before his injury.

Sorry missed this what were the doubts surrounding Klaven ? He's looked very solid whenever I've seen him and considering he's on and off the bench that's pretty impressive

Been solid last 2 matches but had a ropey first few matches when Matip was out. Lucas was picked over him at CB as a result which was pretty telling. He's more than capable back up and his recent improvement is welcome. The bigger issue is Sakho is going, Lucas shouldn't be playing there.

I thought he looked fine and was unlucky to make way for Lovren - but hey, that's football and all about opinions - he'd come in in cup games plenty and done fine there was no logic or excuse to play Lucas and Klopp for about the only time looked stupid for doing so

I think that was Klopp's second mistake, the first being to stick with Karius when he was clearly out of his depth. All managers make mistakes, I am willing to forgive Jurgen a couple!

Yes, in fairness he grasped the nettle fairly quickly on Karius - if the was Rafa or Rodgers they would have stuck past the point of no return

Doesn't matter, we had no leadership or organisation that day....the team attack and defends as a unit as far as I'm concerned.

Except Lucas looked excellent at CB in the games he's played so not sure why he looked stupid exactly

I thought Dreamys response was so ill conceived I didn't want to give it any credibility of a reply but I admire a man who is more charitable than I though, well done [emoji106]

You said he has proved to be a disaster because he was part of a joke defence in that game, if that's your arguement then everyone is a joke.
Lucas has been good this season when called upon at CB and should not be sold, we have fuck all cover there

So he got it wrong in the games where Lucas played we won? They were all mistakes?

That makes zero sense.

Lucas while obviously not everyone's cup of tea has played well this season and has deserved his game time based on his appearances.

If you can't see that I think it might bias against him based on previous experience.

Klavan played against Burnley and was extremely poor that day and I'd imagine that's why Lucas got his chance and took it very well.

The thing with Lucas is this..

If he was ever played in goal, he would stand there in the centre of the goal doing fuck all else but pick the ball from the back of the net all day, and there will still be some bat Shit crazy lunatic here telling us how well he was doing his Job of picking the ball from the back of the net....and it was everyone else's fault for the goals. When he plays things don't usually go well for us...there is a reason for it.

Dreamy - Firstly Happy Christmas , you are a nice lad- secondly stop chatting shite about fucking Lucas - thanks [emoji106]
Happy Xmas. I'm not talking shite. Most people know Lucas has serious limitations but some of the shite spoken on this thread is torsl rubbish based completely and a built up hatred of Lucas for seasons. This year he has been good when asked to step in at CB, simple as that. So selling him when we have 2 fully fit cb's, 1 coming back from injury and 1 from serious injury whose never even played a team CB for our senior side is crazy talk

Lucas is an excellent club man in all respects except one, that he has never learned to tackle properly. That's a bit of a weakness in a CB. Of course I haven't any evidence that Lucas was at fault for the goals we shipped against Bournemouth, but I believe that his presence destabilised Lovren who rarely has a bad game nowadays.

He's made some super tackles and interceptions at CB this season though so that's not exactly true

This idea of a bias against Liverpool players whenever people vent their feelings and opinions is laughable and completely illogical - I like Lucas as a bloke and would always want every Liverpool player to succeed- I can't think of a Liverpool player I didn't like - but there is a reason why Lucas polarises opinions - he's just not very good, but because he is a nice lad people look at his game through rose tinted glasses and convince themselves he is better than he is - admittedly that does have some logic but it's ill conceived -

No Pat trust me - you are. Lucas hasn't made a bad stab at centre back he's looked almost adequate at times but unless there was absolutely no other option he should not get a sniff of that position

Souness wasn't very nice . . . . . .

No he wasn't but because he played for Liverpool I overlooked that - which is entirely my point about this suggestion of bias on Lucas - Its all too easy to dismiss counter arguments to say people are biased - I suppose I am but it's not an irrational bias there's a fucking good reason for it

Except there has been other option in Klavan and he was picked over him on a number of occasions

I couldn't give a fuck is someone is nice or an evil drink driving prick.

Suarez was a prick and I loved him.

It's what you do on the pitch that matters and this season Lucas has done well when picked, very well when you consider he's not a CB and a couple of times got drafted in last minute like Watford at home.

It's not that hard to see
