Liverpool's Summer Transfers : Speculation & Rumours

If we sign another attacker, maybe an experienced striker or winger to complement Salah/Mane, then I would look at letting Origi go – he is at an age where he needs to start regularly to fulfill his potential and we could get good money for him. In that case, bringing Brewster back would make a lot of sense – he needs to feel he's part of this Liverpool team after being on the sidelines for so long and to absorb Klopp's coaching.

Sadly I don't see a place for Wilson in this team even though I'm fan and I'm leaning towards the same conclusion with Grujic. We might be better of selling both.

Can't Grujic a) back up Fabinho and b) take up the role of a Milner/Gini/hendo as necessary? So one of the midfield rotational figures?

Yes, that's what I've been thinking before – but our engine room is such a fine-tuned machine that I think it will be very hard for a young player to gain Klopp's trust. Look how long it took Keita or even Fabinho – and Grujic by all accounts is someone still prone to rash decisions and inconsistency. We're just in a different stage to where we were 3-4 years ago – this is a time to win trophies, not let young players learn through making mistakes and while Klopp will undoubtedly give minutes to youngsters in attack or at full-back next season, I think midfield in his system is just too important to the whole construct to mess with.

I could see someone like McGinn coming in though with a view of replacing Milner down the road; I don't think you could go too wrong with a type of player like that.

Our greatest run as a team was actually when we let our kids come in to established teams ...

I'd always assumed, lazily perhaps, that Grujic, being a fellow Serb, was signed on Buvac's recommendation. I'm not sure whether Klopp has that much loyalty to him so I'd expect he'd have to prove himself if he were to stay with us and be part of the first-team set-up.

Sure, and there will be plenty next season: Neco at RB, Brewster and Elliott in attack, probably Curtis Jones for at least half a season, maybe Hoever and VDB will get to fill a Lovren-shaped hole, 1 or 2 young GKs will challenge for the 2nd spot. Grujic just might be one too many and in too important a position.

Not only does Klopp seem to love Origi (and maybe with good reason considering his goal contributions!) but Origi seems to be very happy where he is. He's on a very good wage, at the best club in the world with superb facilities (not going to happen again for him), winning medals (unlikely to happen wherever he moves on to), playing with some of the best players in the world and under the best manager and living in a wonderful, very liveable, city that's a short flight from home. I wouldn't move on if I was him either !

Maybe, rather than building a statue to him, we could just get him to paint himself bronze and stand on a plinth outside the Kop on matchdays. Might as well make some use of him if we're going to keep him.

Or we could keep him as a trusted, proven member of the squad who slays Everton and scores in CL finals maybe.

Brewster has just scored a cracking free kick for Swansea, they're 1-1 now at Millwall.

[article]A lot of Liverpool’s business over the last few years has focused on strengthening the next generation of first-teamers, with the likes of Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg brought in before turning 18.

And now another name appears to be on the club’s shopping list, this time before even playing a senior game.

That player is Nick Breitenbucher, currently on the books of Roberto Firmino’s former club Hoffenheim.

Breitenbucher scored 13 goals in 16 games for Hoffenheim’s under-17 side in the 2019/20 season, including four in an 8-1 win over Frankfurt back in September.

And now, according to the Guardian, Liverpool and Chelsea are two of the teams interested in coaxing the 17-year-old away from Germany.

He wouldn’t be the only German in the Reds’ academy, with teenage striker Paul Glatzel having committed his long-term future to the club earlier this season.[/article]

Better than a new transfer are Sadio's comments on the offal, especially since a few here think he could be tempted away this Summer :

I think we have a great team, great staff and the club is amazing, so we have another step and big things to achieve so we won’t stop here. We just have to believe in ourselves still and keep working harder and be humble for sure – work hard and try to achieve bigger and bigger things with this club.

Yeah, he is a great manager and everybody is happy with him. I am lucky to be working with him for sure, because as a player and a human being I have developed under him which is really important for every player. We can see how the players develop in this team, so I think all the things come from him. So I will say again, thanks to him.

"Nick Breitenbucher"? Now they are really taking the piss.

Can't be!

I think it's probably an EU right to forget thing. There were some rumours he broke a few laws whilst at Freiburg. If you Google with a VPN on you might have more luck
