You’re not placing a lot of importance in the positional discipline of a defensive midfielder.

No argument from me that Endo has more positional discipline as a #6 than Hendo did. But Klopp did play Hendo there for probably close to a hundred games and somehow made it work.

My point is that Endo doesn’t have the dominant athleticism of a prime Fabinho, so he’s closer to Hendo in that regard. Even though yes, he’s positionally more disciplined.

I love that we have strength/depth in all three of the positions - I can't remember that ever happening before. pretty much any permutation is strong - and leaves last season's midfield in the dust.

#6 : Endo, Macca, Bajcetic

LM : Macca, Jones, Gravy

RM : Szobo, Macca

And that's not even counting more depth when desperate (or for Subs) in Elliott, McDonnell and Clark. Pity Thiago died.
 
I love his pressing, he seems be brilliant at it. He is compact, with short intense bursts. Klopp's future pressing coach?
 
I know at LFC, we like to write our own scripts and have been a part of some unbelievable journeys. But Ibiza Schmadtke, delivering a 30-year-old Endo with no experience at "top" clubs and laying the foundation for a quad assault. I did not see that one coming.

He was absolutely everywhere today. And smart with the ball too. Brilliant performance.
