Absolutely

Well actually there was one pass TAA made, a superb 40m pass to (I think) Mane .. I was amazed it went straight to his feet, TAA must have mishit it.Just a note incase you couldn't tell on TV.
The wind fucked us today. It was stupidly strong, blowing everywhere & they couldn't play it in the air at all. Hence alli not kicking it from the back. Hence no switching play from side to side at all second half.
Massively horrible conditions. Made up we won.
Another plus is that when Gomez is on the pitch VvD can go forward more for set pieces without having to dash back the moment the ball doesn't reach him. It's often Robbo that stays back but I like Gomez better as the anchor man in those situations.Gomez was superb. He won’t get shifted barring injury. Delighted for him
I like Gomez I really do but, two of those games were against the bottom teams in the prem and before that he started against Norwich.3 games Gomez has been involved at CB, 3 clean sheets, just saying.

Don't think Gomez can take the credit for Doucoure and Sarr not being able to hit the ball in front of them. Unless he has developed an invisible mode.
I was amazed by that. He actually played it into the wind, & thankfully the wind stayed constant.Well actually there was one pass TAA made, a superb 40m pass to (I think) Mane .. I was amazed it went straight to his feet, TAA must have mishit it.

Later someone (Hendo I think) tried to play a similar ball to Mane by over hitting it into the wind so the wind would drop it back in front of mane, but the wind switched direction & went flying into the stands.
They were utterly ridiculous conditions, I know it must have been hard to see on TV cos others at the ground in higher seats couldn't see it as much either, but it must have been apparent we adjusted our play cos Allison couldn't kick it out, & we soon started to play almost every ball on the ground.
Also even on the ground the wind made the ball move loads, VVD miskicked it a couple of times, the ball caught the wind once allowing their attacker to get ahead of him, & those Watford 'air shots' were possibly due to it (they were at the Kop end & I was in the anny road so can't be sure).
It annoys me when pundits say 'both teams have to play on the same pitch', cos for Watford they were perfectly happy to loft balls up without having a clue where it'd go in the hope that one in ten of them would work, & aren't a side reliant on switching play & moving the ball quickly in the air.
Wind is the biggest equaliser in football, and as you say, if one of your biggest weapons is long diagonal passes, that's a big problem. I must say that there is no way Watford should be down there at the foot of the league. They do have some really excellent players from front to back. It is bewildering that they are in this position.Just a note incase you couldn't tell on TV.

True, I didn't mean to suggest they only played long balls or anything, & they played much better than I thought they would. That’s a bit unfair on Watford. They played some beautiful passing football that got them into great positions against us.

The points stands that they could always rely on that lofted pass when they didn't have an out ball, & knew that it'd always stand a chance of causing us problems. The amount of times an easy ball forwards bounced away from TAA in the first half & allowed them to pressure us cos the ball shifted or bounced in an unpredictable way was staggering.
I also remember the wind blowing the ball away from the keeper as he was preparing to take a goal kick. Crazy.I was amazed by that. He actually played it into the wind, & thankfully the wind stayed constant.

Especially when you consider how solid they were last season. Baffling. I'd never have pegged them as relegation candidates.Wind is the biggest equaliser in football, and as you say, if one of your biggest weapons is long diagonal passes, that's a big problem. So, why are the hands and arms of goalkeepers not considered ? 🙂It’s to do with 2 players being between the attacking player and the goal. 99.99% the keeper is that first person.

A player is not in an offside position if level with the:

Haha Dreamy's missus clearly knocked him back last night (or this morning).Who gives a shit about a bs stat started in 1992?

Tough to call that a real mistake though - the wind was blowing the ball all over the shop.Clip did not show his mishead that caused the panic for VVD to that back pass that nearly caused us all a heart attack.
