Liverpool vs Watford Match Thead

Fair point, although goalkeepers don’t count.

On the hand, the needs were far more desperate when each of Mane and Salah arrived.
That's true on Mane, don't think Salah inclusion was down to us being too desperate. We had Coutinho who could play left and Mane doing the job on the right. Just that when entrusted with that position, Salah showed he can adapt quickly. That's how I see it...

The goal at the end ....how cheeky was that? I can keep watching that.

If Henderson ever learns to hit on target coming in late like that, he can easily score 10+ goals in the league. But you cant teach new tricks to an old dog. He has at least 2 in every game where im thinking Gerrard would have buried that. He invariably ends up skying them.

To be fair though, a lot of midfielders would sky shots Gerrard scored. Not exactly a fair barometer.

True, its defence where we are most stretched. Matip will take time to get back up to speed, and lovren has gotten quite injury prone. Weirdly I'm not too worried by the Gini injury, we're well stocked in there, but hope hes not out long.

Looking forward to Minamino joining up with us. Havnt seen much of him but looks a tricky player, (admittedly on youtube clips)

True, but it does become a big issue if we lose another CB ... Gini or Milner would have been next in line I think

Just a note incase you couldn't tell on TV.

The wind fucked us today. It was stupidly strong, blowing everywhere & they couldn't play it in the air at all. Hence alli not kicking it from the back. Hence no switching play from side to side at all second half.

Massively horrible conditions. Made up we won.

if GOmez plays like he did today, you are 100% right. Harsh for Matip when he comes back, but it's what he did last year ...
Absolutely. That's how it has worked so far, play until you're injured. Then your place is up for grabs.

Can someone explain this to me, for Mo’s second, it went to VAR for offside and they judged it from where the Watford number 27 was and judged him as the last defender to see if he was offside, what I don’t get is that Watford’s number 15 is literally on the touchline on the floor next to Mane, surely he’s the last man? That makes Mo a mile onside.

It’s to do with 2 players being between the attacking player and the goal. 99.99% the keeper is that first person.

[article]A player is in an offside position if:
  • any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents’ half (excluding the halfway line) and
  • any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent
  • The hands and arms of all players, including the goalkeepers, are not considered.
A player is not in an offside position if level with the:
  • second-last opponent or
  • last two opponents

You need two players goal side of the attacker. GK is usually one.

I tricked a team once who were 3v1 against me as last man when they broke from a corner where our keeper had gone up. As soon as they played a forward pass in our half I picked up the ball and yelled offside, there’s only one defender in our half, ref laughed and gave me the free but told me to play to the whistle in future 😀

Reactions: Ijg
Some people commenting that we didn't play well but I think we have to remember that we played out of our skins against an excellent Salzburg just a few days ago and had to dig deep to combat a team with a new manager, the performance was probably a reflection of those issues. Bit of irony now those two games in CWC will be seen as some form of a mini rest.

I am still clear as mud regarding the need for checking VAR for Salah's second goal. One player down at the goal line. When they were checking Mo, they ignored the player by the line.

So is he exhausted or lacking in confidence? Because what you posted makes fuck all sense.

Either way, he's been shite for ages.

How does it make no sense? He looks exhausted, so as he’s not being rested, it’s probably because klopp’s trying to play him back into confidence and putting resting him aside.

hope this helps

I thought he had a good game, and lets not forget that Salah's first goal was a result of him initiating the counter attack. He did well with the ball today in tight spaces, but I think his shots were a little shit and have been of late. But we need to start accepting that he is not really a prolific type goal scorer for us and it is not something we should judge him on.

So you're proud of the bush league douchebaggery?

He was rested against Everton, but yes, this was his 3rd game in 7 days.

You need 2 players to be onside.
