City did not really play with a centre forward in the goalless draw at Tottenham last weekend, which was strange. They had Carlos Tevez up front, with David Silva playing off him, but it did not work because Tevez likes to roam all over the pitch. City need to address that but manager Roberto Mancini probably won't know his best team yet. Will new signings James Milner and Mario Balotelli be involved against Liverpool? If so, how will they fit in?
When Roy Hodgson was in charge of Fulham, they were extremely hard to get the better off whenever they played away from home. I think Hodgson will continue that trend at Liverpool. This has got draw written all over it.
Prediction: 1-1


Eh Didn't they have one of the worst away records in the league?


I'm quietly confident, well I was when I thought Aquilani would slot into Joe Cole's role - Perhaps Maxi?.. 2nil to us..

Winning this game would be huge. City only getting 1 point out of there two nearest rivals would be a huge blow to them. Us getting four points from Arsenal and City would be a huge confidence booster. Theres no reason we can't win on Monday, from watching the Tottenham game, I think we're a much better team than city. Must win for me, a draw would be a disappiontment.
 
You KNOW it'll be Gerrard in the hole with Lucas alongside Mascher so why speculate.

Lucas won't start if Masher's still around.

According to the official Agger's ready to play a full 90 minutes come Monday even though - according to Roy - he think's he's at Tranmere. (It was a heavy blow apparently).

We are looking increasingly slim with Cole out and Aqua/Kuyt supposedly on their way so perhaps a new player will be introduced soon. RedShrek mentioned elsewhere a striker deal is close. Perhaps a striker who can also play in the whole preferably.

I wouldn't say it is a must win game. City are rivals for the top 4 so anything we get off them at their place is a decent result, providing we beat them at Anfield. That would still give us the advantage over them.

It won't look at all good to have 1 or 2 points after 2 games but it was last week's result that was a poor one really.
 
Mancini's ultra-cautious, so I can see this being a goalless bore-draw. The only real question for us is who plays in the hole. Gerrard's the obvious answer, but we don't have anyone else even vaguely creative who can play in CM. So what do we do? I'd like to see Roy do something courageous and unexpected like playing 442, with Kuyt or Wash just behind Torres, but I doubt that will happen. So we'll line up with Mascher and Poulsen/Lucas in CM and just hope that Gerrard and Torres can pull of some slice of magic.

Mancini has a weird obsession with playing 3 defensive midfielders against decent sides. If we line up with 2 ourselves its going to be the worst game of football ever.

I'm fully prawn sandwiched up in the boardroom or something for this one. Get there for 5.30 so by the time we've had the marks and sparks G&Ts on the train and all that I'll be fucking lashed for kick off. Have you seen the really cunty film Citen have got coming out? It's the biggest load of wank I've ever laughed my balls off at.
