Overall, a pretty good first half display.

Even twats like Lucas and Insua did well, although it's a bit disappointing (and slightly concerning) that we seemed to let Lille off the hook a bit, and allowed them back into the game.

I think we need a few more goals, because Lille are quick and dangerous and we can't afford to sit on 1-0.

They changed the way they were playing, or we allowed them to get through us more, from around about the last 15 minutes of the half.

Every time the ball gets played up to the guy they've got up front, he's holding it up well and laying it off and we're struggling with the interplay between them then. We need to cut out the first ball by having Masher drop to pressurise their player and prevent him holding it up and laying it off. As soon as they get amongst us at the back we look in trouble. Their keeper and back four are putting the ball straight into their front man EVERY time and we're struggling with it

the ball needs to go wide faster, everything is going through the middle and its playing into lille's hands

We've dropped the tempo and dropped off their back 4 and allowed them to play the ball up to the man up top. We need to re-assert the quick tempo and stop them being able to pick that long ball. The midfield need to push up about 10 yards.

Agree with that. Lucas seems to have license to get forward which was paying dividends for the first 30 mins. We definitely need to take the game to Lille 2nd half

He is, that ball he played wide to Babel was really impressive.

Anyway, did anyone see Gerrard lose the ball, and then stroll along watching the play infront of him, and then go past him, while he continued to 'literally' walk?

But there's always the possibility they could score. I hate that mentality. We should just go for three goals, so that even if they do score we still win.

And the last thing we need is extra time, given that we've got United on Sunday.

I do think we'll score again - we've created chances consistently - but we need to reassert our dominance in midfield.

It's amazing when we play with a bit of positivity how much we can improve and how different players look when they're allowed to push on. Just goes to show what negative bollocks we play at times.

We started sitting deep in the last 15 minutes leaving Torres isolated. And as we've seen so many times, that just doesn't work. That being said, we've had lots of decent chances. An early goal in the second half would help us stay calm and positive.

I've got a bad feeling, I hope I'm wrong. Nice to see Lucas ghosting forward in the first 30. We need more of that.
