Liverpool VS Everton Post Match Thread..

There was a bit of "always the victim, it's never your fault" from some of the blue shite. Might be to do with that.

Yeah, he must be referring to that. As distasteful as it is, it only lasted a few seconds and was met with a chorus of boo's.

The telly honed in on the Everton end when the 'Thanks' bit was on and there was one beaut giving it the two fingers and all that to the Main Stand. Thought it odd as the majority of the ground was conducting a round of applause. For all their 'solidarity' there are some right bitter cunts supporting the Blueshite (we have more than our fair share of knobheads also) but I'd be surprised and shocked if it was as many as is being touted.

Reina:
Did well today. Nothing major to deal with, but he handled well, dealt with every high ball, caught when he could, punched when he had to.

Johnson:
Fucking shite. Lazy fucker. He's been really poor for the last few games. I miss some of the magic he used to create.

Carra:
Excellent game. Defended well. Made some great tackles. Legend.

Agger:
Same as Carra. He's had a good run of games now. He looks to be back to his best. Long may it continue.

Enrique:
Had some good moments, but overall he was poor, especially going forward. His passing is terrible.

Lucas:
I know a lot of you disagree, but I thought he did ok. He made some good tackles, especially in the first half. His passing was poor though.

Henderson:
Had a great game. Made a big impact right from the very start, where he worked his bollocks off to get that cross in.

Gerrard:
Captain fantastic. Worked his arse off for the whole 90 minutes, as he always does against everton. Never gave up. Probably the easiest MOTM I ever gave to a player, bar none. What a legend.

Downing:
Did ok. Nothing exceptional, but he made some great passes (particularly the one to Coutinho where he put Sturridge through). I'm not convinced he'll ever be our "saviour" or anything, but I think he's a good squad player, and is a good option when we're missing Suarez/Coutinho/Sturridge.

Coutinho:
Another great performance today. I don't think I've ever seen a player that can play so many through-balls in one game. He's an absolute genius at it, and he's still only a kid. He'll get the YPOTY award next season.

Sturridge:
Worked hard, but it just wasn't happening for him today. He always seemed to have to take an extra touch on the ball, when he did have the time to. Slow to react.

Borini:
Though he gave us a bit of urgency when he came on. We started playing better, and looked like we'd actually score. But then he faded, and that was that. Needs a proper chance to prove himself. Could possibly replace Downing against Fulham.

Skrtel:
Very surprised at this substitution. First of all, I thought I'd never see him in a red shirt again, and secondly, I thought Rodgers when going for the kill when he brought Borini on, but then it looked like he changed his mind with Skrtel. As for his performance, he did ok. Made at least 1 important tackle. No howlers, which is good to see.

As for the referee, I though Oliver did ok. Ok, he could have shown a few more yellows, but he could have done this for both teams. He knew it was a derby match and tempers could flare etc. He let the game flow as much as he could to be fair. As for disallowing the goal, the replay showed a blatant push on Carra by Distin. It was the correct decision.

One of the most pedestrian derbies I’ve ever seen.
Gerrard, Coutinho and Carra were great.
Enrique, Johnson, Lucas and Downing were not.
Odd subs again.
Sturridge’s greediness got on my nerves 1st half but he was much better 2nd.
Our passing was very poor.
Our best defender is retiring in 2 games.
Their ‘goal’ looked OK.
The ref was a homer. We could have shot someone in the face and he wouldn’t have give it.
Fellaini’s elbow use needs looking at.
Everton have a good back 4.

I have only managed to watch a few games live this season. Here are the last 5 I have watched live.

vs. Stoke 0-0
vs. Swansea 0-0
vs. Reading 0-0
vs. West Ham 0-0
vs. Everton 0-0

Haha, I read that yesterday and thought Mark is gonna love that.

I've been one of his staunchest defenders, however he has been poor of late. Perhaps Ryan was right and he's just tired... he has come across as being a bit carefree though, which is never nice to see.

I don't buy this "of late" stuff though, I thought he had a spell last year where he was excellent for us and England, but he's always got that cumbersome, half-awake look and at his age it's inexcusable. He makes mistakes, he gives the ball away and let's players get beyond him and put crosses in far too easily. He's peak age, he should be showing his experience now, but instead he's looking like the weak-link of the backline and he's still, largely, unfulfilled potential. He's erratic and nowhere near as steady and consistent enough to be playing for a top team, and considering the raw assets he's had at his disposal - pace, skill and a great shot, it's criminal really.

Instead, his defensive play is all over the place and his attacking play is vastly overrated.

A few tabloids tried to drum up outrage over a supposed piss up the squad had last Monday when they went to Spain for Carra's farewell party. Then the team seemed to try to live up to that by playing as if they were all suffering from a prolonged hangover. I wonder if they were just tired out after a long season or just nursing injuries, but no one seemed able to accelerate.

This was spotted during the Derby too ...

Related to Suarez?

Souey wrote in the Sunday Times yesterday abut the S*n interview, saying how saddened he was that it 'tarnished' his reputation with LFC fans, but then proceeded to show yet again he still doesn't really get it by suggesting the only problem was the timing of the article rather than the fact it was also in that rag. I'm amazed no ex-teammates have ever put him right.

The newspaper article in The Lying Rag was poor judgment on my part but also downright bad luck because it was a Monday night the picture was taken of me recovering in hospital, after Liverpool got through in extra-time and penalties against Portsmouth in the FA Cup semi-final. The story was supposed to appear on Tuesday but missed the deadline and went on Wednesday, which was the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. Mike Ellis, The Lying Rag’s journalist in northwest England at the time, was working in the United States, or it wouldn’t have gone in then. I was in hospital, having been operated on for the second time, and not knowing what day of the week it was. I remember being in intensive care the second time and looking at the clock and it was just about midnight, all the night lights were on and there was nobody else in intensive care, I was lying there in the dark saying to myself, “Don’t go to sleep, don’t go to sleep, this is when you die.” That is the only time in my life — and I don’t want this to sound like bravado — I have been frightened.

It’s a deep, deep regret to me, because I had some special years at the club, but that’s something that I have to live with. For the vast majority of people, that’s what I am remembered for, that article appearing on the anniversary of Hillsborough. It’s a regret that it greatly tarnished my reputation with Liverpool supporters.

Glen's been off for the last few games but then I really think we have bigger priorities then selling a good settled RB, his defending has been ok and to call him the weak link of a back line is not really true I don't think since they all have been poor at certain points in the season but to be honest defensively as a unit the last 2 months they have been the most solid I can remember all season.
It's the midfield and attack that's cost us yesterday but then I don't want to stop another thread turning into a glen J scapegoat fest...

Couldn't agree more.
