Liverpool vs Crystal Palace Match Thread

Yep, great result, top of the league, Sturridge and Suarez can't stop scoring, Gerrard one closer to 100. Can't really complain. Just hope Arsenal and Spurs slip up and we'll be top for the next two weeks.

Sterling's decision-making is really, really poor. However, with the game won, I'm fully behind Rodgers leaving him out there. His game time will come down again after the international break when the likes of Lucas, Johnson and Coutinho start returning to the team, so this was a good game for him to get minutes and have his mistakes/weaknesses picked up and explained to him (again).

Guys keep asking the gaffer to play this youngster and that one, but when they do get onto the pitch and have a stinker, they get all levels of shit piled on them. Frustrating performance from the lad no doubt, but you can't want to develop and take pride in playing young players yet expect them to be super consistent at the same time.

Didnt go through the thread but Enrique really frustrated me today.

Can't wait to see how Cissokho plays.

No one will agree, but we still missed Lucas in that match, people don't appreciate how good he is at filling in the space between our midfield and defence, Palace ran at it without any opposition many times today. Not a problem today, but against better teams, we'd have been punished.

Three points in one of those games where we normally struggle to break them down early. No real justification for taking our foot off the gas, but then we scored three, secured the points and we're top.

Can't really, seriously grumble at the state of things can we? It would have been nice to bang a few away though.

It's weird. I should be happy after that but I'm not.

This team has lacked fluidity all season and is seemingly intent on relying on Sturridge and now Suarez to do most of the work for them. There is talent in the side, which is what is getting us through games but there are some real issues that need resolving and I'm starting to wonder whether attitude is one of them.

So great, we're top of the table right now and that's arguably the only key indicator of our success right now but our performances are the main thing we have to go on to try and determine what our chances of success are going forward and well... if we can keep scraping through games, great, but how long can we keep doing that for?

This, he pisses me off in the final third, he either runs aimlessly into a blind alley, or crosses/passes it straight the opposition. He's been poor for a while now.

Dude, people have been running through our midfield in every game this season.

We've got 10 more points after 7 games this season than at the same time last season.
5 wins out of 7 and top of the league. We've been winning or drawing something like 95% of the minutes played this season.

Yes we slowed it down in the 2nd half. So what, play it safe and 3 points in the bag. Its all that matters in the end.

Top of the league. Love it!

Agreed, you can't help but feel that all these little things we're getting away with at the moment will eventually see us come a cropper. Hopefully it's just a case of slowly getting back into it, we're definitely short of the fluidity of last season and a couple of players are coming up short, particularly when it comes to decisiveness in the final third, the main culprits being Enrique, Gerrard, Sterling and Moses. They're all well below par, or proving that that they're not particularly good these days for one reason or another.

It'll be interesting to see us line up with Allen, Cissokho and Coutinho all in the side. Hopefully that will see a bit of a shift in our play.

I have to say aswell, Alberto looks fairly decent, he deserves a bit more of an extended go.

Lucas gets strolled past also. Henderson was superb and had tonnes of interception and was te only player to play for the 90. A marked improvement on Lucas
