Its amazing how a near faultless and quietly excellent display from Curtis Jones, almost hardly merits a mention, such is the high bar he has set for himself.
It seems we have already come to expect that level of performance.
He has such a high ceiling of potential.
It could be quite the battle in a couple of years time as to which Scouser gets to lead out Liverpool

Jones has been excellent. He plays with such maturity.
Decision making is so important in midfield, and often something which takes years to nurture on the field, but he just has it in him already.

Jones looks realky good. It's a shame he's such a massive bell end in real life. But meh, as long as I never come across him that's fine.

His discipline is excellent, and he clearly has a great footballing brain as he reads danger well. Have said it previously - but he is proving he can be a great 'system player' who offers a threat when attacking too.

I might have said a while back, the coaching staff REALLY rate him - I mean, Danny Ward, forget it, they really view him as a serious prospect. It's a perfectly rational idea that he might need games elsewhere, but they'll be loath to let him go even temporarily.

This is really great to hear. Once we starting seeing consistent errors from Adrian it was clear to me that there is no additional risk to playing Kelleher, and actually the reward is that it would accelerate his development. He's still really young for a GK, but it would be ideal if we could find a Dean Henderson style loan for him to a team he'll be starting #1 for in a year or two, if we bring in an actual reliable back up for Alisson. Problem with this as you always point out is that we know Ali will likely miss games with injury so it has to be someone who can hold their own in the PL.

It is amazing how easy we can make some of these games look.

[article]Liverpool may have lost Virgil van Dijk – and what seems like 3,679 others – to injury, but they remain second in the league and favourites for the title, with good reason: the squad are settled, have the best manager around, and are always good for a goal. But perhaps the biggest difference between them and the rest is one of attitude. They don’t go into games hoping to win or expecting to win, they go into games knowing they’ll win – and the majority of times, they do. So though they took on Wolves – one of the Premier League’s most awkward opponents – with only seven first-teamers and with Fabinho playing out of position, it was no great surprise to see them ease to victory. Of course their best players are better than Wolves’ best players, but the authority with which they established their superiority was not a factor of talent but a factor of mentality.

I'm not sure how much a loan helps young keepers, especially one in Kelleher's position : two older keepers around him inc. one of the very best in the world, gets to play in one of the very best teams in the world and have the chance at medals and titles, gets paid well, knows he's in line if improvement continues or #1 gets injured because Klopp is like that. Or play for Stoke if the manager thinks there's any advantage over playing a keeper they actually own.

I think Matip and Fabs have made me forget that we're "missing" anyone. And if Gomez was fit I'd have them playing ahead of him.
That is if Thiago was around to anchor the midfield.

There's no current issue regarding Kelleher. He has played a few games, done well enough but he hasn't completely even established himself as No.2. It's very early days so the Boss won't have made any firm decision just yet. He's in, done well. Work on that basis.

The Boss and his staff have managed the injuries fantastically well so far. Lucky that the front 4 have stayed fit. Looking like Spurs and Chelsea will be more serious contenders this year. Chelsea are a big danger, Spurs rely to much on Son and the Diver but Chelsea have an impressive attacking squad.

This was really well-worked, that cross from Mo just begged to be put in the net and Hendo’s run just a second before the delivery made the defenders change their trajectory, opening space for the ball to go through.

Hendo's run made one player run the wrong way, Salah's feint gained him a few yards, but if that was Alisson in goal I would have been pissed off.

I think the issue we'll have with Kelleher now is that really tough choice keepers have to make. I know we've only seen a couple of games but he seems better than most in the league and he's got a career ahead of him. Might feel the need to move on.

That said with Alli's injury list he'll get plenty of games.

He was fairly ropey in a couple of League Cup games, but obviously in front of a far weaker defence. Allison seems to pick up fairly regular knocks so he'll play a bit this and next season. He might look at moving then but doubt he'll be in a huge rush. He's only just gone 22 which is quite for a keeper

Is it just me or did it look like after the 3rd goal went in, Curtis was allowed to express himself a little more and be a bit more expansive?

Dunno if I'm reading too much into it, but he looked to me like he played it safe a little less

Think he's playing with maturity beyond his years. Was well over the top in the league cup games but he has settled down now and doesn't make to many mistakes.Playing himself into the side and not so much of the "big I am". It's very early days but he is building up experience and is a great prospect.

Kelleher vs Adrian. I'm pretty certain Klopp has indeed made that decision !

A woman I knew was born and bred in Toxteth (she's in her 70s now). She said when she was a kid, parents of kids from the Dingle would tell them to say they were from Toxteth as it was seen as a more acceptable place to be from, but by the time she reached adulthood that had reversed (i.e Toxteth parents told their kids to say they were from the Dingle)

Maybe it's flipped again?

As an aside, I met my wife in the Dingle labour club, behind the cinema on the corner

Yeah all cool students and that live there now. Gentrification in action
