LIVERPOOL v Everton (A)

HT: Well, if you ignore the scoreline, I'd say that's probably our worst performance of the season so far. We're riding our luck, but if we keep giving Everton that much space and time and defending that deep, they will score eventually. Change something, Rafa!

Reina - 6
Johnson - 7
Carra - 6.5
Agger - 6.5
Insua - 7
Masherano - 9
Lucas - 6.5
Aurelio - 7
Kuyt - 5
Gerrard - 4
N'Gog - 6

Everton 4 shots (2) Liverpool 2 (2)
48 - 52%

First half ratings:

Reina - 6
Carragher - 7
Agger - 6
Johnson - 6
Insua - 6
Mascherano - 7
Lucas - 6
Kuyt - 6
Aurelio - 6
Gerrard - 4
N'Gog - 6

A pretty average half so far to be honest.

Fellaini is running roughshod over Lucas. Aquilani, injured or not, can surely put up a better fight than Lucas, right?
Hopefully after 60 mins. Think we will see Riera and Yossi is a cert later on.

Well, delighted with the scoreline under the circumstances but it's all very reminiscent of the 2nd half against City - we score and then see the midfield 30 yards from the defence for half an hour with N'Gog horribly isolated up front. And given the fact that we are losing almost everything in the air, that is a horrible way to be set up.... we'll end up conceding.

I know everyone has banged on about the defence, but this midfield is killing us. In all of Rafa's time here, I've never seen a midfield so incapable of 'controlling' a game. Yes, it's the derby but it's just something we see game after game.

I really hope we can pick things up in the next half and at the very least, get a few passing moves going. We'll need to score at least one more.

Average? We were fucking awful.

And if Gerrard isn't fit, and Aquilani is, why is Gerrard playing and Aquilani on the bench?

Gerrard has been disgraceful so far.

Riera for Aurelio and Benayoun for Gerrard at half time pretty please.

Johnson's not fit, I guess Gerrard's got a problem, we're not using the left side enough... Worrying, but we must win this.

if he'd played more games before now yes. i think he'll come on and be off the pace after sitting idle for a month. rafa will use that in his own mind to convince himself that lucas is a superior player. and we'll go on with him until that guy from raiders of the lost ark can take care of it

I don't think it's a matter of getting into the game or "waking up", just look at him, he looks nowhere near fit. He's jogging around slowly and aimlessly and looks like he came off an injury last night. He shouldn't be playing.

Yeah for all Rafas love of controlling the game this side is not very good at it. There is a massive hole in midfield.
Alonso shaped?

I'd take another shite half, a jammy deflection, and a 0-2 please.

Or, you know, demonstrate quality, I don't fucking care.

Who's he? No, it needs cooler heads and better decisions. Even Lucas can do that. They have to THINK.

This is what ? His 3rd game back ? He shoudl be showing a lot more than this.

I think Aquilani will be on after HT.

Hhhmmm, well - safe to say he won't be on before half time Onions.

Never seen rafa make a sub at HT unless there's an injury.

I dont think I've ever seen a team so dominated in the air. Are we a team of dwarves?
We ARE much smaller than probably any time in the last 10 years. Insua, Lucas, Masherano - not a lot of height to help out at the back.

I went to see Liverpool away to City, I think in 2005/6, and my mate couldn't believe the size of our team - we've towered over them. Now, yeah, we're pretty rubbish in the air... Masher and Lucas are incapble of winning aerial battles and there is no presence to back them up in defence either.

Haha yes i was thinking what I wouldnt give to have a 28 year old sami in the heart of defence he would brush Fellani and Jo off like children.

I'm having to watch tony cottee in studio and he has a dvd of his everton days as a gift to who knows how many he scored for the blue shit
