Eh? Fabinho creates fuck all, I wouldn't play him even if Henderson isn't fit, becaus he's been atrocious for ages. And was fucking horrible yet again.

Awful
Not saying that Henderson is better than Fab, or visa versa. Just That with Henderson in Midfield with Milner that they lack creativity, so both fullbacks have to be at thier best

A proper fan

Disagree. A proper fan would call half our players shit at the first drop in form during a record-setting season, as well as call the CL tie over, despite this team never losing a 2-leg tie in European competition under Klopp. Now, THAT is a proper fan this team is lucky to have.

Hahahahaha

Silly Fabio

Can we please rub some horse placenta on Allison's leg and do some Gyspy rite near the corner flag at the Kop end?

WTF. Awful? He gave the ball away once .. when trying to play a long through ball. Other than that we were camped in the final third for most of the match where all he was expected to do was recycle / distribute to the wings. I doubt many saw that you are referring to. Can't wait to see his stats for the game because I'm pretty sure they don't match up to your version of events.

I missed most of the game, but this seems like the thing Lucas got criticized for – when the team struggles to break down a stubborn defense, somehow it's the DM's fault.

Wijnaldum isn't a defensive mid, he isn't playing there since Henderson made that spot his and then the arrival of Fabinho. Lucas was blamed not because we could not break defence down, he was blamed because he kept giving fouls away at dangerous areas and could only manage to do a forward pass in every 5 games he played for us.

There doesn't seem to be any other matches thread but fucking hell how long did that VAR check take in the Arsenal game? It was obvious after about 5 seconds it was onside.

That was in response to the criticism of Fabinho.

Fabinho has been struggeling to get back to form after his two months out.
But how quickly people forget that he was probably the best dm in the World prior to his injury.
Its laughable reading some of the comments about how shite he is all of a sudden.
Just give him time and a few more matches to get up to speed again.

He is shite 'all of a sudden'

Since he came back into the side, Fabinho has been fucking atrocious.

Seems like the crowd was subdued and nervous today?

It’s rare they are up for a lunchtime kick off. Only the huge games can get loud and even that is only 70% of what it’s like for a later kick off against similar opposition.

In all fairness everyone here knows how good he can be, but injury or not he seems to give the ball away a lot since returning to the side and It frustrates people because that's not down to match fitness it is down to concentration or should I say lack of.
Now unless the FA stop all football matches and declares the 2019/20 season null and void it is not a matter of "IF" we will win the Title it is a matter of "When and Where" we win it and If we get pass Atlético Madrid, sorry... When we get pass Atlético Madrid there are some massive games to come. The real possibility of facing two or more of Barca', Bayern and City. We need Fabinho back at his best yesterday not in a few matches, for we need to wrap up the Premier League sooner rather than later so we can concentrate on the CL...

Hopefully Utd will do us a favor and at least hold City to a draw, and should Arsenal do the same I think that pep will pour all his efforts into the FA Cup and CL Making our task easier in the PL

Sorry but thats not acceptable, you dont get 3 months to play yourself into form in a team pushing for multiple trophies. Firmino skates by his dogshit form because we really have no alternatives, Fabinho has plenty of competition for his place, once Henderson is fit again he should be benched and earn his way back in.

Correct. Although it may be that Fabinho will play much better with Henderson back.

As for Firmino, he is average for swathes of the season, and every time he scores a few, it's always 'he's back!' but he's not a good finisher and every burst of scoring is punctuated by long periods of no actual goal threat whatsoever. I'm not sure if this season is worse than usual - 8 league goals seems poor - but he never scores many and never will.

However, as well as it being a lack of competition that secures his position, there's also the fact that he is ideal for how Klopp wants to play, and his work rate and skill allows Mane and Salah to flourish. Yes, that does insulate him from rotation - he's been shit for weeks and weeks now - but it does also explain it.

It would be easy to replace his goals, almost any decent striker in the league scores more, but we don't really know for sure what it would to to the shape of the team if he wasn't there. And that's the really knotty problem.

We will found out maybe in summer, as Klopp is finally FINALLY going to sign another top class attacker to the squad, but we can't second guess where he will play, or indeed if it will even be Werner.

I've always suspected Firmino's vastly overrated but I never really claim to be that good at reading football so I usually keep my doubts to myself.

Yes he works hard, but so do lots of strikers. Yes he's intelligent, but so are lots of other strikers. So far, he seems like a glorified Dirk Kuyt.

I mean, it's all going well so it's not a big deal per se. But then someone will go way overboard and suggest he's our most important player, or the best striker in the world, and it just rankles a bit.

Suarez had all his qualities and was better in all of them and was a fantastic goalscorer too. That's a world class striker.

Fair enough. But Bobby does produce flashes of utter brilliance though, that even I can spot. Perfect back heels when running full pelt, touches like yesterday when he conned the defender and crossed for Sadio, etc. Obviously doesn't score a lot of goals, but when he's playing at his best it's wonderful.

Probably should be a separate thread on Bobby, but there's been some good articles recently. The best one I read showed his passing matrix, like a circle, indicating where he passes & how often compared to other forwards or attacking midfielders.

It was completely unique, in that he passes in every direction almost uniformly (relatively speaking to other players). His heat maps show he covers a massive amount of ground in the match too, again quite uniquely so for someone in his position.

As such it's hard to imagine it not having a massive impact on our style of play, but that said, I have no doubt klopp will change our style soon anyway, you have to constantly evolve & the age of our team means we're gonna be bringing in new players anyway.

I'd be much more receptive to that kind of argument if we created shit loads of chances generally.

But we don't, do we? Maybe I'm biased but I don't think Salah and Mane miss loads of sitters, and we certainly dont score many for a team in our position.

Our strengths are different.

I’m sure most of the folk who don’t rate salah argue that he does just that. Misses loads of sitters.

76 missed chances at home this season.

0 goals.

Whether he’s overrated or not there is no denying he’s been way below acceptable levels this season especially at home.

That’s an horrendous (lack of) goal return at home.
