Liverpool U21 vs City U21

Teixeira is a weird one for sure. He's barely played since he came, he'll be 20 in January, and that u21 side hasn't got a top class prospect playing in his position (Coady and Adorjan would be the main ones he could come in for).

I think it was a back injury he came with, so maybe we're just being ultra-cautious with him, but it's still a bit puzzling.

Was Ngoo any good? Maybe he could get a chance now.

He worked hard and did well in his usual awkward-looking manner. Good for a U21 game that is. He'll probably struggle in the Premier League at this stage, as he won't find it easy to screen the ball from the bigger, stronger and more physical defenders. He might earn some cheap penalties though, because it's easy to accidentally trip him given his long legs and wiry frame. 🙂

It'll be interesting to see how he fares if sent out on loan to a League One or Championship League club. I wonder if he is what Peter Crouch was like earlier in his career when he was at Spurs and then at QPR after a couple of loan spells.

Cheers! Always liked him, but not sure if he has the qualities to make it.
Would be ace if we had a youngster we could promote. I dont think Morgan is good enough yet, sadly.

Yensil probably is our best bet. Lightning quick and scores goals.

saw arsenal u21 v everton u21 tonight. that barkley kid played, what a disappointment - clearly not progressed as everton would have wanted. reckon he'll be in championship/div 1 in the next year or two, they won't be receiving the 'rooney' type fee as hoped. arsenal won 3-0.

How often do you go to u21 games btw? You seem to be active - anyone we should just know of (not that Liverpool can buy, but will be a big thing shortly)?

managed to see all arsenal u21 this season just because i'm in north london. they have a couple of highly rated guys, with most likely to play carling cup games. the u21 keeper was on the 1st team bench yesterday (he's only 17 i believe). they have a tricky german right winger, english centre midfielder (very confident on ball), and a right back that reminds me of dani alves. can't remember the names, will get them. a load of scouts there tonight and league managers including paul jewell and mark kennedy (coach at ipswich now). alan stubbs and david weir were their coaches, stubbs was a twat - never stopped arguing with the referee and 4th official. arsene was there tonight taking a keen interest and even jotting down notes! as i said, barkley was poor, as was the other highly rated player they have hallam hope and magaye gueye.

will hopefully get to see liverpool u21 away to chelsea - it's next friday at brentford fc I believe for those interested

yeah, looking forward to seeing him. i guess the assadi fella may also play. was also thinking about going to see spurs v barca in next gen comp - see the next messi! that's in the next couple of weeks also i believe.

Binny wouldn't leave us on such a maybe, you should try be more like Binny.

Please forgive my slip-up.... Here you go.

Great that Sterling hasn't been called up for the two U21 games. He's gone from playing a game a week (or maybe every 2 or 3 weeks sometimes) to 2 games a week all of a sudden.

Also, no mention of Samed Yesil being called up for the U-19 friendly against England (Morgan, Sterling) so what the commentator mentioned yesterday about him playing in this Friday's U21 game against Chelsea will probably still happen.

19 Reds get national calls
4th Sep 2012 - Latest News

Nineteen players will be on duty for their national teams over the next fortnight as Liverpool's season takes a brief hiatus for the international break.

With 2014 World Cup qualifiers among the many matches scheduled, a number of Reds departed Merseyside following Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson are with Roy Hodgson's England as they begin their quest to reach Brazil in two years' time with a trip to Moldova on Friday before they play host to Ukraine next Tuesday.

Joe Allen will be involved for Wales in their World Cup qualifying home clash with Belgium and the trip to Serbia, while Fabio Borini will hope to figure for Italy against Bulgaria and Malta.

Martin Skrtel and Slovakia take on Lithuania and Liechtenstein, while Daniel Agger will face the Czech Republic with Denmark in Copenhagen on Saturday and Pepe Reina is with the Spain squad for their trip to Georgia next week.

Fresh from making his Liverpool debut at the weekend, loan star Nuri Sahin has been included in the Turkey squad to face Holland in Amsterdam on Friday and then Estonia in Istanbul.

Away from Europe, Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates have been named in the Uruguay squad that faces a trip to Colombia before they welcome Ecuador to Montevideo in World Cup qualifying.

Brad Jones will be aiming to help Australia secure a return to winning ways in their matches in Lebanon and Jordan, while Oussama Assaidi will be involved with Morocco as they tackle Mozambique in an African Cup of Nations qualifier next Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a clutch of the club's youngsters will be involved in European U21 Championship qualifying.

Martin Kelly, Jordan Henderson and Jonjo Shelvey have been selected in Stuart Pearce's squad for the fixtures with Azerbaijan in Baku (Thursday) and Norway at Chesterfield (Monday).

Danny Wilson is with the Scotland U21s for their showdowns with Luxemburg and Austria, while Peter Gulacsi will hope for a place between the sticks for Hungary's home matches with the Republic of Ireland and Liechtenstein.

Finally, Adam Morgan and Raheem Sterling will be involved in England U19s' friendly with Germany in Hamburg on Thursday.

Well, the offal just updated their article, and added the line in bold:
Finally, Adam Morgan and Raheem Sterling will be involved in England U19s' friendly with Germany in Hamburg on Thursday.

They will line up against new Reds teammate Samed Yesil, who is with Germany U19s for the match with the Three Lions, as well as Wales.

So no Yesil for the U21 game this Friday against Chelsea then.
