He can't be worse than any of the other attackers, strikers or wingers we have, other than Torres.

Delighted

Agreed, I take all youtube vids with a pinch of salt as they can make anyone look good! But any new player can freshen things up a bit and hopefully inspire those around him.

Re: Liverpool bid to land Hamburg striker Elijero Elia for £5m in January

Some of Babels followers on twitter asked if this rumour was true, Babel has now answered yes. Let's hope it's regarding this rumour though. You never know with ol Ryan.

Still, the signs are very promising.

He's everything we wanted Babel to be.

Re: Liverpool bid to land Hamburg striker Elijero Elia for £5m in January

Any player that reduces Eggnog's time on the pitch is to be welcomed

Half decent, yeah.

I'll wait and see. Looks no different than Babel

He's a winger isn't he? Could well be reducing Kuyt's time on the pitch instead. Which would also be welcome.

Re: Liverpool bid to land Hamburg striker Elijero Elia for £5m in January

Yes Please! His middle name is Rinaldo...it's like an amalgamation of Ronaldo and Rivaldo, and if he is half as good as either, then i'm in...plus he's class in FM 2011. No doubt, just sign.

Re: Liverpool bid to land Hamburg striker Elijero Elia for £5m in January

Hahahaaa IrishRed, great commentary there!

Re: Liverpool bid to land Hamburg striker Elijero Elia for £5m in January

He cannot possibly be any more shite than Babel, so I'm all for this.

Re: Liverpool bid to land Hamburg striker Elijero Elia for £5m in January

He is quite a player and some!

Let's see what he can do in a Liverpool shirt.

You are joking arnt you? I mean it is only a youtube clip and can be misleading. But in that clip he LOOKS 1000 times better than Babel. At least.

for a start he tries to go past an opponent by going right or left rather than trying to go through them.

Babel would have a decent tube clip too Jack. Amazing what a bit of editing can do.

*looks at Lucarse youtube compilation*

*disagrees*

Re: Liverpool bid to land Hamburg striker Elijero Elia for £5m in January

He's nothing like Babel! Unlike Babel, he's actually a winger who likes running with the ball and can actually beat his man. And he really does have pace to burn - he's as quick as Lennon, Henry, or anyone else you can think of.

Re: Liverpool bid to land Hamburg striker Elijero Elia for £5m in January

He looks incredibly right footed, he can take people by going on his right, and only takes them on his left using his pace, which is obviously why they've put him on the left wing.

Still it's moderately exciting given our lack of talent on the wings. If he's at least better than what we've had in the past decade, we'll be doing ok. I'm unsure if he's going to be a world beater though, would have to see a bit more of him.

There are a lot of things I could be persuaded to believe. This is not one of them. Certainly not during his time at Liverpool

I think he (Babel) epitomises how misleading youtube compilations can be, because most goals he scores are more than decent.

I'm not sold on Elia, so hopefully that youtube compilation is just as misleading as Babel's would be, but for different reasons.

Re: Liverpool bid to land Hamburg striker Elijero Elia for £5m in January

Elia is nothing like Babel at all. Firstly he actually has some game intelligence, and secondly he uses his pace to go past the defender not run into him.

He was excellent in Holland, and was fantastic in his first season in Germany. This season he has been a bit injured and off form due to this.

He'd be the perfect winger for us and give us some much needed pace down the flanks.

If we end up paying 10-13 mill it's a bargain.

He's away with Hamburg at Dubai for their winter training camp. I guess its still premature talks/rumours. If he doesn't feature in their friendly vs. Al Wasl FC tomorrow then chances of an imminent move will certainly be higher.

Re: Liverpool bid to land Hamburg striker Elijero Elia for £5m in January

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but what do people know about his apparent attitude problems?

Re: Liverpool bid to land Hamburg striker Elijero Elia for £5m in January

As long as he tears defenders a new one on the left flank I couldn't care less if one journo has written that he can be a bit sulky..

Re: Liverpool bid to land Hamburg striker Elijero Elia for £5m in January

He was apparently let go from Ajax for his attitude. Yeah, of course nobody would care if he turned out great, but having if having an attitude problem is enough to get you let go from a club, then it could be a real problem for us. It's not called an attitude problem for no reason.

I've only seen him six or seven times but from that I can say he's miles better than Babel., and I wanted us to sign him every time I saw him play.

I'm not sure if he'll provide an instant impact because decent wingers who have come from abroad in recent years have found the league tough going in the first year or so - but I am hopeful he'll prove a good signing in the long run. He'll certainly go straight into the first team and be given plenty of time.

Come on. We are (seemingly)signing an exciting winger we have all been craving for, I'll worry about any attitude problems if it actually becomes a problem at our club.
