Weird half. We've barely played, in all honesty, but we've taken our chances well (partly thanks to Villa's poor defending) and looked solid defensively (partly thanks to Villa's weakness up front). Nothing to complain about, but nothing to write home about either, despite the score. I'd expect Houllier to get Villa more fired up for the second half, so we'll have to do the same, or this could be awkward.

Good stuff and though hardly our best team, just shows how much worry a bit of pace causes a struggling side, Villa have shit themselves whenever the ball has been played into Babel or N'Gog.

Maxi, Ming and Lucas are linking the midfield well to the attack, Dirk is having a stinker and Skrtel has looked far from convincing. Think Villa might be a different proposition if they bring on Heskey and/or Carew.
