Lucas discovers why he's being pulled out of the game with 5 minutes left.

Did he do that? That shows no class. You shouldn't do that to any opposition fans, but especially fans as good as Dortmunds.

I dunno, i'd have to see it too. I didn't notice it anyway. Hope Mark isn't point scoring off the back of the match thread.

I think the first bit - Milner to Sturridge was planned; well, at least Sturridge clearly signaled to Milner to put it where he wanted it. And it was great too, because once you put the ball to feet in the box like that, you create an additional advantage of maybe earning a penalty. What happened after that though, I think was pretty much freelance work.

I've just watched it again - and got goosebumps again - but what was Dortmund doing there? Aubameyang totally forgot about Milner once the kick was taken, and then if you look at the far post, we had 3 guys lining up - Lovren, Origi and Moreno - with only Adrian Ramos there. That was just totally awful defending.

The reason for that IMO is that we won the mental battle. I did just wonder when I read some of Tuchel's pre-match comments whether, had I been a Dortmund fan, I might feel those comments were a touch TOO admiring. There's something very, very special about the Red machine when we get going in Europe, Dortmund knew it and that, probably more than anything, is what carried us through last night IMHO.

I didn't see it, but Setanta cut their coverage very soon after the final whistle. Didn't see anyone mention it on facebook or anything last night. Maybe he was geeing up the Liverpool fans down that corner of the ground.

I think everyone has harped on about Milner, he deserves it, but just to mention the sheer amount of ground he made up to take the ball from Sturridge before dinking in the cross for the winner was exceptional. A full 60 yards from where he took the free kick and bypassed three Dortmund players. He deserves huge credit for that goal.

Liverpool are the only club to make it from the start of the group stage to matchday 12 unbeaten, with five victories and seven draws – more than any other side in the 2015/16 tournament.

Usually this audio turns up in my Facebook feed but for some reason it hasn't. Do you have a link to it, Mark? Hearing Aldo would make my day.

I can't for the life of me find it now, it was a tweet I think with the audio linked. I've trawled this thread and the match one but can't see it. Anyone?? @Modo

You weren't the only one, others have commented on it. I however, didn't see it.

Then to dig out the cross. Excellent.

All I can say is what I said last night.....

We have our Liverpool back.... its been a while but we finally have a team that believe again...

Amazing what belief in the team and then the support can do to transcend players to a different level of playing....

This is what Liverpool is about....

Belief and Fight til the bitter end....

Today of all days we should remember that.

How juvenile are some of them? "Poo", "Liverfool" etc. I haven't heard that kind of thing since I was 7, and you lot won't need reminding what a long time ago THAT was.

We are just lucky that our little forum here is littered with intelligent posters.

Not a matter of intelligence really though, is it? If you're going to call another team names, at least don't make those names something out of Peppa Pig.

Summed him up perfectly there. He does make some great last ditch tackles, but people were putting a case forward for him in the match thread, that it was an agenda against him, etc. Have a look at the goals again. Great passion etc but he's a poor defender, and he was pretty fucking graceless the way he goaded the Dortmund fans at the end. Stuff like that usually comes back to bite you on the arse, one way or another.

Have a look at the second goal - how can you blame that on Sakho - he has to defend a quarter of the entire pitch because Moreno is again awol. If he was closer to Aumathingame he would have left a chasm of space to run into. I cannot see how you could possibly blame him for that and the third goal was deffo down to Lovren. I thought he had a good game.

The best centre back in the world is going to look vulnerable playing alongside Moreno

What's even more thrilling is that they never, ever learn on that site. It's just a repeat of the countless times we've beat someone in the face of adversity. It starts off with them dissing the manager and players, and it usually ends with them wanting to trade in their own shower of shite for ours.

Sakho played everyone onside for the 3rd goal. The rest of the defense had stepped up. Lovren did wander I thought, but Sakho had the benefit of seeing the defensive line was ahead of him.

And the long ball for the 2nd goal was completely misjudged. He had long enough to look at it and measure it, he didn't decide either way and completely lost the challenge and was left for dead. As I said in the match thread, about 3 mins earlier he did exactly the same thing from one of their throw ins. So he didn't learn.

Weirdest thing about that Red Cafe thread is the amount of Liverpool fans on it. Imagine watching that while posting on a manc website. They are all slagging Milner off for the whole match as well. Weirdos.

I couldn't even be arsed reading what you lot were posting last night while the match was on.

I don't understand why a Liverpool fan would post on that site at all, unless It was to wind them up.

…tribalism aside, I couldn’t help having a wry smile when Lovren’s header went in. That’s what football is all about, and why we love it so much.
All the best in the semis you determined b**tards. Bloody hell.

…As a United fan that game was amazing then excruciating, much like Liverpool’s season. Klopp is steadily getting his team there and for about 60 minutes they were really very good. It wasn’t even that Dortmund collapsed because they didn’t, Liverpool just beat them and that’s something United are currently incapable of.
Congratulations to Liverpool for making it to the next round, I sincerely hope they get thrashed by whoever comes next.
Dave, Manchester

…I bloody hate Liverpool as much as the next United fan but oh my God that was brilliant. Never a bad sight seeing gutted Germans reminds me of a certain night in 1999. 3-1 down with away goals against them as well bloody magic. Dortmund still don’t know what hit them!!! You may be our enemy but the Germans are the enemy of our enemy so respect to the scousers tonight is all yours.

…As a Man United fan who had an older Liverpool-supporting sister who tortured me while they won everything when we were sh*t (not the now sh*t, but the sh*t of the eighties, which was actually worse), I generally gloat in every failure or deemed failure they endure. At about the 55-minute mark of the Dortmund game, however, I strangely found myself wanting the b**tards to win. They played with a passion and style I truly believe in, and with such hard work and determination (something I have not seen from my team since that dinosaur took over, not that I solely blame him: we have some mercenaries/turds who need to be shipped off). Hats off to Liverpool! That’s how football should be played. Never give up, out-work your opponents and with a slice of luck, you can overcome any odds. That’s why I love football. Hats off and congrats where it’s due. Sigh…
Berlin-based Man Utd supporter (Sigh)

…As a card-carrying ManU supporter for the last thirty years I was delighted to see Liverpool 2-0 down after X minutes. But when Dejan Lovren rose at the back post to put Liverpool into the semi finals of the Europa League my fist accidentally shot into the air and a celebratory yelp somehow emerged from my mouth. And after my happiness at City beating PSG to make it to the Champions League semi final.
This is turning into a VERY confusing season for me.
Bren, Dublin

…As a United fan, I’m really not supposed to be happy when City or Liverpool win – particularly when Liverpool were the ones who knocked us out of that competition. But you know what? Bloody good on them both! That Liverpool match has to go down as one of the best games of football in recent memory and City pulled an amazing result out of the bag to get to their first Champions League semi final.
If ever we needed a reminder of why football is as popular as it is, this was it. Well done to both British teams and I genuinely hope they go on and win their respective competitions.

I find those quotes impossible to comprehend. Man Utd fans, apparently actually from Manchester, and not the Congo, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur or wherever, congratulating and in some cases supporting Liverpool?

No. Something not right. I would not, could not, do the same. I don't know any Liverpool fans who could either.

Same here, but it's kind of gratifying seeing them do this, it just shows what a confused and horrible mess they are in. And how they have no grasp of the genuine tribalism between us.
