LIVE hand grenade was dumped outside the home of Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish.
Police were called to Selworthy Road, Birkdale, at around 10.15pm last night after reports of two men seen acting suspiciously outside the home of a local security boss.
John Ball, who has this year seen his home shot at and several of his businesses firebombed in a vendetta against him, called police saying he thought a shadowy pair lurking outside his front gates had a gun.
Two men were arrested nearby and a search of the scene found the live grenade outside the home of the former Kop King on the same road.
Dalglish is currently in the Far East with LFC's pre-season tour.
It is not yet known whether anyone was at home at the time.
Before officers arrived following Mr Ball's call, two men sped away in a silver-coloured Lexus, which was found dumped nearby.
Two men in their 20s were arrested nearby on suspicion of witness intimidation.
The police helicopter took to the skies and two men were arrested on separate roads nearby.
After the arrests, police searched the area thoroughly and found the grenade on top of the garden wall.
A Merseyside police spokeswoman said: 'The army's bomb disposal team were called and the area cordoned off for the public's safety.
'The device was removed and made safe and is currently undergoing forensic examination.
'Selworthy Road is cordoned off at its junction with Sandringham Road and high-visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area to reassure the public.'
