Any appeal would be too late anyway, wouldn't it? The sale will go through tonight. All H&G can do now is sue for damages.

Wahaaaaaaaaaay !! I honestly cannot explain the smile on my face today.

Yeah.

Hicks might try to file another injunction restraining the board meeting and subsequent sale pending the resolution of the application for leave to appeal.

But that would be unlikely and is worst-case scenario.

My guess is that Hicks will concede defeat when it comes to owning us, but will reserve his rights to try to get some money later in court.

Which is all he cares about anyway.

If there's another hearing on 21st Oct about Hicks and Gillette's role in the sale, when are they expecting the sale to be done by?
[/quote]

The board could well agree it tonight, but the paperwork would still have to be done. I think 21st October is about preventing H and G from putting a spanner in the works while the paperwork goes through.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

i dont think he can restrain the board meeting tonight

11.02am: Broughton wants a board meeting by 8pm today to sort out the sale and there is a dispute over whether the owners will be able to communicate via phone. The owners' QC is asking for the meeting to take place at ten o'clock tomorrow. Judge rules that it should be at 8 today

11.51am: More from the chairman: Broughton described himself as "elated" with the result but stopped short of saying that the club will definitely be sold to John Henry's New England Sports Ventures, reports the Press Association.

He told Sky Sports News:

I am absolutely elated, it's a very important day for our club. This will clear the way for the sale, we will have a board meeting this evening and proceed with the sale. It has been an anxious time but we have been confident. But when you go to court you can never be sure.

Big words for a Chelsea fan.

Yes, they are. The guy may have made a tidy sum out of doing this job, but he's been worth every last penny. Props also to RBS for fetching him in to begin with.

I mentioned this long ago, but I'll say it again.

We need to look at appointing the best people available, irrespective of how Red their blood is.

Surely it's to do with RBS winning the court case, no?

I'd personally at least try to explain it, otherwise you may be deemed a fucking nutjob.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

Well whatever, it doesnt matter right now if he is a Chelsea fan. He was paid to do a job, and that was to find new owners for me he has gone above and beyond that and as mentioned by many before played this well. I'm sure he has had loads of help and advice but the man deserves some serious credit.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

Broughton has done an excellent job, which in turn had probably become more personal as it went along.

The fact he mentioned that he would risk his personal reputation with regards to getting this deal done says a lot. I think he will probably have a soft spot for LFC even if he still is a Chelsea fan.....

Congrats to all the Liverpool Board today. It really is our own day of American Independance......

I am liking the look of John W Henry also, I dont think we should sell to this Lim fella. He seems to have come in at the last minute looking for another money making opportunity. It definately looks that way if he was profiting from Man Utd and now wants to buy us....

NESV all the way.....

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

I think this might be my happiest day as a Liverpool fan since we beat United 4-1.

I don't think he did though.

If it's what I'm thinking of, these were the bastatd 'Theater of Dreams' clubs that were opened all over the place in Malaysia and Singapore.

They're all bust now.

I did have the dubious honour of going once though, for a friends birthday bash and the Manc bastard insisted it be held in the one that had opened in Kuala Lumpur.

It was a good night though, since I was the only Red surrounded by about 100 Mancs watching the Scum lose to Boro 1-0.

Ah, nice.

With regards to Lim - im not condoning us accepting his bid but refusing to look at him on the basis of him owning man utd bars is wrong - as a business man you cant refuse an opportunity like that.

Im a through and through lfc supporter but if the opportunity arose to open man utd/chelsea/arsenal bars in a high demand location i wouldnt think twice!

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

That's not why I don't want him, though.

It's because he's essentially an incredibly rich stock-broker who hasnt a clue about managing sports businesses.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

Did anyone see that David Bruik interview on SSN? He's their financial expert. I don't think I've ever seen a more concise and clear summary of the situation that was pro reds (crazy for SSN) he basically blew out the water any chance that Lim might still have a say in the sale process. Kinda took the wind out of the interviewer who was clearly trying to add a little gloom to what has been an amazing day!

Well Done David Bruik! ;D
