LFC SOLD to NESV.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

oh and harry redknapp can fuck off. i think he's joined pooliss and whiskey head as my most detested manager in the league.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

I must admit to liking Purslow, Ayre and Broughton after seeing them interviewed over the last six to twelve months.

Purslow and Ayre are Reds fans as well as professionals and I hope they retain positions at Liverpool. They fought for the club in its most important battle and won and we need their type at Anfield as Liverpool begins to recover and rebuild.

Broughton has always stated that he would be leaving once he's completed the successful sale of the club however I will remember him fondly and wish him well for what he did for us. He was dignified, resolute and determined to do the right thing for Liverpool.

Well done, lads.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

They'd still need to apply for leave though.

There is still a possibility that Hicks might use the potential threat of such an application to secure some sort of concessions from the Board, but I'me very confident he'll be gone by tonight.

they hired roy, so even though the s un shines out of their arse at this present moment in time, they aren't perfect 😉

No they're not Neil and that's a fair point but they were pragmatic enough to put in place a takeover release clause in his contract. We simply don't the financial constraints placed on the board by the owners - we certainly didn't know enough to throw accusations and names around. It was a kangaroo court approach and completely unfounded.

From The Guardian website:

Liverpool fans might enjoy knowing that on Margaret Thatcher's 85th birthday she'll be watching nothing but celebrating scousers and miners all day on TV.

Ha!

Brilliant!

With that kind of clause in the contract, it was always going to be impossible to attract a quality manager.

Perhaps HOdgson's appointment wasn't so surprising; but finding out how rubbish he'd be must have been a bloody pain.

New England Sports Ventures Statement on Court Ruling Regarding Sale of Liverpool FC
by NESN Staff on Oct 13, 2010 8:48:21 AM

The following is a statement from New England Sports Ventures.
NESV welcomes today's High Court judgment, which is a huge step forward for Liverpool FC.

NESV has a binding agreement in place with the Board of Liverpool FC and we are looking forward to concluding the deal. We are ready to move quickly and help create the stability and certainty which the Club needs at this time. It is time to return the focus to the Club itself and performances on the pitch.

Awesome news.

The booting out of H&G is certainly worth celebrating, but today will only be remembered fondly if the new American owners live up to our expectations.

Fingers crosses, eh.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

Lim has issued a statement:

I welcome the decision of the Court. The way is now clear for the Board to sell the Club. I have delivered my Offer to the Board and believe that my ownership represents the best option for the future of the Club and it's supporters.

I hope that when the Board is reconstituted tonight that it will not simply ratify a sale to NESV but will consider all the Offers before them. I am asking the Board to run a full and fair process that enables all of the Offers to be considered on their merits before the future of the Club is decided.

He can get to fuck

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

Lim's just making noise for the sake of it. I think the deal in principal with NESV will be upheld, there's no reason to think otherwise. They've had months to consider all the others, and if Lim was serious he would have submitted a proposal already. I think everyone's reading too much into Broughton's wording.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

Mr Broughton, your reaction to the outcome today?

We are delighted with the result. We feel justice has been done. That’s what we came for and that’s what we got. We are delighted.

Will you still have to seek a declaratory judgement as well?

We will take legal advice on that. We will get the board reconstituted by 8pm this evening and we will plan to have a board meeting soon after that.

And your intention is to continue with the sale to NESV?

We will continue with the sale process.

What do you think of the owners’ behaviour throughout this process?

I don’t wish to comment on the owners’ behaviour. I’ve commented on that enough. I think the court has argued in favour of the sale.

Will NESV own the club by tomorrow?

There’s a board meeting this evening, hopefully to determine whether or not that is the case.

Do you have a duty to consider any of the other bids that have come in that may be higher?

We will take legal advice on this.

Do you expect the owners to take part in this?

I would expect they will. They will certainly be invited as they were last time. I have no reason to believe they will not be there.

If there is an appeal next week will that affect the process?

We will take legal advice on that.

Has this been one of the most difficult periods in your business career?

It’s been a bit difficult but we got the right result.

Mr Lim’s complaint about not being properly considered – is there anything in that?

I think you’ll find we considered all bids appropriately.

Has this had any damage to your relationship with New England – will there be any smoothing over to do?

No smoothing over to do. We are delighted they were there.

And have you continued to talk to them throughout this process?

We’ve continued to talk to New England.

It came out in court, is the declaratory judgement an option rather than a condition of the sale?

It’s an option.

On either side?

Yes on either side.

You see all the supporters here, it obviously means a great deal to them – can they look forward to a better future?

Absolutely. We’ve been here to complete a sale process. We said right from the offset that we would find the right owners for Liverpool and that was our target. I think we’ve done that. We were very fortunate that we had two bidders, both of whom qualified as far as we were concerned for being the right owners. We had to choose between them and I think Liverpool Football Club can look forward to a great future with its new owners.

And what of your and Christian’s futures now? Any thoughts on how long you will be involved with the club?

There hasn’t been an item of discussion with New England at all.

What are your hopes for the club now?

The vital thing is that all of the offers have wiped out all of the acquisition debt and that puts the club on a sound financial footing. And that was the single most important thing.

What do you think won it?

Fragrant abuses of undertakings.

Were you always confident that you had a rock solid case?

Yes I was always confident. You can never be 100 per cent confident when it comes to court. That’s the only element of doubt.

.

Should really be flagrant not fragrant abuses but noone is perfect...

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

worth noting that when the football tv rights revert back to the club in 2012, NESV is ideally place to market the games in the US via their channel.

he had submitted his proposal and to be fair broughton said it was a good deal but they went with NESV and I've seen nothing that has happened in the past week to change their minds.

The way it seems to me, Lim lost out in the official tendering process because his bid was lower than NESV's. When the tender is awarded to the best bid, you can't then come back with a higher bid. That would make a mockery of the bidding process.

Lim should have come in with his best price at the appropriate time.
[/quote]

I have a feeling that Lim was in cohort with Hicks and had inside info to bid higher at the last moment when perhaps Hicks alerted Lim and tried to delay the finalizing of the sale to NESV.

Coincidentally, on this day in 1903 the Boston Red Sox won the 1st World Series.

Why would he need to do that?

Once NESV won, the news hit the Net and everyone knew what their bid was.

As a close runner-up of course he was a bit sore. When the sale hit a snag and went to Court, he saw an opportunity to take a second bite of the cherry, like any other opportunistic businessman would.

Now it's up to the Board to do the right thing and shove him off.

Awesome News!! 🙂

looks like brendan is an idiot saying Purslow was a snake. Purslow, Ayre and Broughton deserve alot of credit for what they have done.

Lim can fuck off, he lost out and seems dodgy.

Welcome NESV 🙂
