Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

do you know what is really fucking annoying about the corinthians debacle? the fact parry and moores could have googled that information with their personal PCs let alone due dilligence they supposedly peformed on hicks and gillet.

I read somewhere that Parry has been advising NESV.

NESV look to Rick Parry

Written by Darren Phillips

Rick Parry has emerged as an advisor to New England Sports Ventures in their bid to buy Liverpool Football Club.

The 55-year-old has been consulted with regard to the club itself and Premier League. He may also be assisting the legal case being constructed to unseat George Gillett and Tom Hicks as owners.

After acting as the chief exective to the newly formed Premiership Parry held the equivalent post at Anfield for 11 years.

This included the period when the Reds were sold to the American duo.

His recommendation that Gillett and Hicks's offer be accepted was crucial in the deal finally going through and beating competition from Dubai International Capital.

This amongst matters related to transfers and the authority of former manager Rafael Benitez made him unpopular with Liverpool fans.

When the 2008-09 season closed Parry left Liverpool and was recently appointed a non-executive director of the freshly revived New York Cosmos club.

Financial reports suggest he received just under £4.3 million on vacating office at Liverpool.

His future level of involvement with the club should NESV overcome the legal challenge to their purchase is unknown.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

They could argue that when looking at Hicks they found something like

Tom Hicks: During the strike-shortened NHL season of 1994/95, Tom Hicks purchased the Dallas Stars. In 13 years as their owner, Hicks’ teams won their division seven times, the Western Conference twice, had the team with the best regular season twice, and made two consecutive Stanley Cup Finals appearances – winning it once in 1999.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

Spidey, you'll do your head in even thinking about their gross negligence.

That's was the first steps down our financially (ruined) strait!

An example of Broughton accepting a bid that was best for the club over another that might have offered more money, like he said, and now we know why Hicks is getting all excited he must smell more money from Lim

The idea of our supposed rescuer being gazzumped fills me with concern, someone needs to explain to Mr. Lim and his backers that two wongs might make a partnership but they don't make a right.

I know I risk re-injuring our recently repaired, lifelong friendship, but that's dreadful, mate. Especially when compared to your normal standard of quips... 😉

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

@tariqpanja (Bloomberg): NESV unfazed by Lim messages. They have a signed deal with #LFC board. If court approves that deal is as good as done.

As I mentioned before there was also something about a player given the biggest contract ever.

'Hicks made headlines across all MLB when he signed then shortstop Alex Rodriguez to the biggest contract in MLB. The ten year deal would have paid Rodriguez up to two hundred fifty two million dollars and guaranteed he would remain the highest paid shortstop in the game'

This was something that was bigged up a lot on here at the time, I recal a number of people trying to play it down.

A few weeks after their takeover in 07 there was lots of information being sent around regarding Gillett and how he (and I think Hicks also) had been declared bankrupt, but it was dismissed because it was apparently quite normal over there.

It's unfortunate but we have to put our trust in people to make the right decisions regarding the club.
We trusted Parry and Moores before and we were left wanting, I know people will give the whole Dubai is bankrupt and struggling but it's not the point. Parry and Moores had no way of knowing that, and just as we can sit here and speculate about how the club might have been in a worse situation, we can speculate that they would have sold the club on much earlier and not held onto it for so long causing so many problems.

Now we are left with Broughton, Ayres and Purslow to trust. We have to trust that they have made the right decision and for the right reasons (importantly) selling to NESV rather than this Lim cat.

If Moores fucked up it's due to plain stupidity and not malice. Parry however has no such excuses...

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

Moores and Crusty sold the club in what 4 days?

They had absolutely no clue who, or what kind of monster they were selling to.

The blame lies firmly on their heads.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

Another late substitution by Liverpool, clearly just running down the clock, they're bringing on Moores and Parry for Spider-Neil's Endless Questions but it gives the Anfield faithful one last chance to say goodbye to these two great servants to the club and you can clearly see the whole stadium has erupted as soon as they were seen warming up on the sidelines.

Dear Member

Following on from our earlier release regarding the Court Hearing tomorrow (Tuesday 12th October) we have been informed that the hearing will be opened and then adjourned in a matter of minutes. Therefore Spirit Of Shankly will not be travelling from Liverpool to the Courts in London tomorrow, but will be planning to attend the subsequent hearing. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we will update members as soon as possible regarding any future date. Those who expressed an interest for tomorrow will be given first priority for any subsequent travel arrangements.

Those who still wish to be in attendance tomorrow, we ask you to again consider the feelings of those who will be attending the 7/7 Inquests also taking place tomorrow.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

There was something in the Echo about supporters groups being outside the court.
I don't want to sound unnecessarily negative about SoS, although I probably am, but in these circumstances does a bit of a mob outside court help matters, no matter how well intentioned they may be.
Surely this is about facts , contractual and rational issues not about football and fans it is time for the objective and not the subjective.

Totally agree. Supporter protests achieve nothing in law - the judiciary simply do not care.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

That is a good point about the 7/7 inquest.

If that is happening at the same kinda time at the same place then a load of football fans standing outside with banners chanting and shouting abuse are going to look like cunts.

I don't know what the SOS or any other group will even really achieve by going there.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

Nothing.
What they wanted is , likely as not, going to be achieved despite SoS, and like it or not their presence there will influence things just as much as their protests and publicity has done in the whole sorry saga.
I suppose people could point to RBS's fear of bad press as a factor, but that is tenuous and the email tactics of Kop Faithfull were probably more influential.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

I have to say up to a certain point I agree with Harry Redknapp , they did back Rafa when they could, and they were possibly not the biggest issue we had at a crucial period.
However when it started getting to the point when the interest on the interest was building up at the rate it was and they clearly had difficulties making the payments and were getting more desperate, and skying incoming transfer fees to help service the debt it was time to go.

They and consequently us were serious victims of the recession, I remain convinced that had it not been for the collapse of the world finances we would not be in the shit we are now and the stadium would be well on the way.
Shit happens

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

The recession certainly didn't help but these two bastards told a pack of fucking lies from the off.

Is the recession responsible for them having the club's profits pay their acquisition loans or was that their intention all along?
They can fucking rot as far as I'm concerned.

Why's that mate ? This guy smells fishy to me and the Manc bars thing stinks even more.

This guy is not corrupt at all.
He's a canny investor who is known for his ability to identify good long term investments and hang on to them.

He's not greedy either, but he's certainly not the kind to splash money just to show off.
Not sure what kind of owner he'll be.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

Yup.

He's an investor with a Midas touch; but not sure if he can actually run a football club successfully.

That's a bit inaccurate. You mean if the absolutely unsustainable orgy of free credit they based their business on had kept going? That was just as anomalous as the recession but they thought it'd go on forever. I'll be incredibly happy if they get raped by market forces they misread and abused, and I'll be even happier if we have owners who while effected by recession, are not determined by the whim of the market.
