They could argue that when looking at Hicks they found something like
Tom Hicks: During the strike-shortened NHL season of 1994/95, Tom Hicks purchased the Dallas Stars. In 13 years as their owner, Hicks’ teams won their division seven times, the Western Conference twice, had the team with the best regular season twice, and made two consecutive Stanley Cup Finals appearances – winning it once in 1999.

As I mentioned before there was also something about a player given the biggest contract ever.
'Hicks made headlines across all MLB when he signed then shortstop Alex Rodriguez to the biggest contract in MLB. The ten year deal would have paid Rodriguez up to two hundred fifty two million dollars and guaranteed he would remain the highest paid shortstop in the game'
This was something that was bigged up a lot on here at the time, I recal a number of people trying to play it down.
A few weeks after their takeover in 07 there was lots of information being sent around regarding Gillett and how he (and I think Hicks also) had been declared bankrupt, but it was dismissed because it was apparently quite normal over there.
It's unfortunate but we have to put our trust in people to make the right decisions regarding the club.
We trusted Parry and Moores before and we were left wanting, I know people will give the whole Dubai is bankrupt and struggling but it's not the point. Parry and Moores had no way of knowing that, and just as we can sit here and speculate about how the club might have been in a worse situation, we can speculate that they would have sold the club on much earlier and not held onto it for so long causing so many problems.
Now we are left with Broughton, Ayres and Purslow to trust. We have to trust that they have made the right decision and for the right reasons (importantly) selling to NESV rather than this Lim cat.
