LFC SOLD to NESV.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

We'll lose money on Babel without a doubt. Not that its really the point anyway, since we have been THAT short of players and THAT short of money that any player who is not performing is of almost equal detriment.

Incidently, if 11 million is not considered a major flop then would you not consider Diouf a major flop?

On the Radio this morning they said something along the lines of the 'English' board members of LFC are in cout again today and hoping to get rid of the 'American' owners.

It has been mentioned a number of times the 'Ameican' owners of the club, but not heard the 'English' board members. I know its factually correct but just a bit odd to mention it.

Odd. What station was this?

Five live.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

I'd love to dredge up all the threads on RAWK where I pointed out they were all incredibly wrong for shitting on Broughton due to his rightly ignoring them. Broughton has done an absolutely impeccable job throughout this process.

Unfortunately those threads for some reason contributed to my being banned.

This is a fantastic day for Liverpool.

I can't it's a valid point, but babel was bought at a time when players went for ridiculous amounts of money, so 11m was a gamble worth taking (compared to what other footballers were going for). didn't rafa originally want malauda and was priced out of it?

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

I'd suggest you not look too deeply into Joe Scarborough if you want to continue liking him.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

Yes, go on Farky, we're ready to turn on him, it's been half an hour.

that's a pretty decent attempt tbf!

pity about malouda, although whether he'd have got time to blossom like he has at chelsea i'm not sure - and at least we didn't go for quaresma!

such a shame we didn't go for arshavin instead of keane in 08, he'd have been perfect playing that position on the left of the 4-2-3-1.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

Fair enough Neil. And there was me thinking that you are just applying the rules of what you consider a flop to be the suit your own dogged defence of Babel!

Babel has been a flop, and as il turns out an expensive one because its one we can't afford. To be fair though, he wasn't one of those who was obviously going to be shit. On paper he seemed like a good signing, it just hasn't worked out.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

"Scarborough was one of a group of about 40 freshmen Republican legislators who dubbed themselves the "New Federalists" after the Federalist Papers. Scarborough was elected Political Director of the incoming legislators. The New Federalists called for sweeping cuts in the U.S. government, including plans to "privatize, localize, consolidate, [or] eliminate"[8] the Departments of Commerce, Education, Energy and Housing and Urban Development, but were largely unsuccessful in their goals."

He's a vacuous right wing Republican from a state that shits the same.

At any rate, who cares at this point, I'd normally not believe his account because as a former politician, and now as a hacky media pundit, he'd lie to embroider any story which favours him having access to rich people, but I'm in a really forgiving mood right now, so I'll let him off.

Not really, unless Neil is suggesting that Rafa bought Babel with the intention of playing him as a winger because he couldnt get Malouda.

yeah, good point. i think he's one of those ones we can live with and just say 'unlucky', more so than, say, dossena or riera who were really pretty lousy signings despite being cheaper - poulsen falls into that category as well imo.

you don't think he was bought as a winger? i definitely do:

1. he was always played as a winger, never a striker.
2. he played as a winge for ajax.
3. rafa openly stated after signing torres that he was looking for wingers.
4. he signed babel after missing out on malouda and deciding against quaresma.

looks like brendan is an idiot saying Purslow was a snake. Purslow, Ayre and Broughton deserve alot of credit for what they have done.

Lim can fuck off, he lost out and seems dodgy.

Welcome NESV 🙂

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...ive-carragher-i-fear-anfield-player-clear-out

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher fears the club's new owners will stage a mass clear-out at Anfield if their fortunes fail to improve.
Carragher claims that in their year of turmoil everything has changed – except the playing staff.
Getting rid of former boss Rafa Benitez has failed to lift the club, who languish in the bottom three following their loss to Blackpool on October 3.
And with new owners set to take over after the High Court blocked Tom Hicks and George Gillett's attempts to keep control at the club, Carragher has warned there may be big changes ahead.
He told Drive Time: “We have changed the manager, we have changed the board and if things don't change now then the players will go too.
“Everything else has changed, it is just the players who have stayed the same.â€

Carragher added the High Court victory has come at a perfect time, ahead of this weekend's Merseyside derby at Goddison Park.
He said: “I hope we can look forward now. I don't think the protests have affected things too much, because the protests and marches were usually before or after games.
“The atmosphere has not been great at Anfield recently because the performances have not been that great.
“But a lot of supporters will be delighted with the outcome today. I am sure that will give us a feel-good factor and we hope that will help us.â€
Carragher insists there is still time for Liverpool to improve on their dismal start and said: “There have been disappointing starts for both sides [Everton and Liverpool].
"Both of us would have looked to be near the top before the season started.
“Both sides would have hoped to be challenging for the top four. But it is still early and maybe three points this weekend will give us the springboard we need.â€

the clear out will start with the manager

There's no doubt that the Mancs and us will want to break out of the Sky deal, but everyone else will want us to piss off with that idea.

if liverpool sell the rights back for their matches they're fucking mad they will make far more money if they market the games themselves on the internet and on LFC.TV

The Premier League hold the rights, not the clubs. And it won´t change anytime soon. I don´t know where you picked that idea up

I thought the rights reverted by to the club rather than the league? okay, my mistake.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

It's not a decision which would favour 80% of the league, so it will never come to pass.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (RBS WIN COURT RULING - CONFIRMED)

By signing up as a member of the Premier League, you forfeit your rights. It would take a majority of chairmen to vote against it for a change, which is unlikely since there are only about 4 clubs who could increase their monies by going alone.
