League Cup Final

I thought Toure was playing a ball in then rather than going for goal. Am I being a little too cynical?

Poor Sunderland. They were doing so well and now it's pretty much game over.

At first I though it was a great Gerrard style strike, then the replays showed how casually he struck the ball, so it could well have been.

Anyone got a link to the 2 citeh goals?

Nah I think he went for it. He was calling for the return ball after passing it out and the way he struck it, it wasn't the shape of a cross to me.

@Markeh Thanks!

What a goal. Somewhat similar to Hendo's first last week. Only better.

Edited: Thanks x 2!

Another great goal indeed!

I reckon Moyes is doing double fist pumps in his front room at the thoughts of Man Utd's euro-adventure next season.

I remember when the Thursday night channel 5 chant was used on them a couple of years ago, that was lovely.

Doesn't give up easily either, which is odd, what with him being Italian.

Agreed, whenever I watch Sunderland he is always one of their hardest workers.

I've been impressed by him in his time there and he has proved very capable on the counter attack which is how he did a lot of his scoring at Roma. It makes you wonder how he would have fared in LFC's new found 'directness' and heavily counter attacking style this season.

Hopefully this is the only cup Citeh will win this year, especially after all that talk a few weeks ago about them being a shoe-in for 4 trophies this season.

I thought 5th, 6th and 7th were all Europa league if top 4 clubs won the cups.

6th place gets a berth because City won the Cup (and presumably will qualify for the CL).
7th place gets a berth only if both the FA Cup finalists have already made CL or EL; so we'll see who makes the final then.

http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/fans/faqs/who-qualifies-to-play-in-europe/

There are three places in the UEFA Europa League available: the FA Cup winners will enter at the Group Stage; the fifth place team in the Barclays Premier League will enter at the Play-Off stage; and the Football League Cup winners will enter at the Q3 stage.

In the event the FA Cup winners are qualified for the UEFA Champions League the FA Cup runners-up will qualify, but in the place reserved for the lowest ranking Barclays Premier League representative. The place with direct access to the Group Stage will be given to the club that finishes in the highest position in the Barclays Premier League of the clubs qualifying for the UEFA Europa League.

English winners of the UEFA Europa League will enter at the Group Stage, gaining an extra domestic place only if they fail to qualify through other means for the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League. If the holders of the UEFA Europa League have already qualified for Europe, no extra domestic place will be gained.

Should the FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Football League Cup winners already have qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Premier League.

I got a call at midday from my GFs uncle who was offered all 4 of his friends tickets in Club Wembley as he didn't fancy going and hadn't been bothered to sell them.

Decent view - entertaining game in parts. Not a peep from the City fans in the first half and it was amusing watching the Sunderland fans all doing the Poznan!

I saw that no replica shirts sign on my way in @FoxForceFive but the stewards on the door werent enforcing it and lots of parent/child combos were there, including one man in a sunderland shirt, flag and fucking jester hat!!

Free pint at half time that was probably poured 20 mins into the first half. Won't be going back unless its free (or for a Liverpool game!).
