RM done all the pushing. Scum playing their usual counter-attack European football with Rooney peripheral as ever. Scored with a free header from a corner and created fuck all else. Madrid could have scored 3 or 4 on another night.
The usual Scum story.
I think you've been watching a different game, mate.
Exception of Ronaldo's goal (which was one of the great leaps and headed goals), Madrid created little. Amazing save at the far post from De Gea, a couple of excellent long range shots from Di Maria; otherwise they ran and passed well but didn't have enough to get the job done.
Conversely, RVP had three excellent chances to win it with one almost total miss that Xabi cleared off the line.
I actually also thought Rooney played very well. Get's shifted around almost as much as Gerrard because his manager knows he'll do the job anywhere. He looked bloody heavy but kept running till the 80th minute and always seemed to carry a threat.
I don't think the Manc's are secure enough at the back to go any further and would be ripped to pieces by Barca. If it wasn't for Madrid's exceptional schedule of playing Barca 3 times before heading to OT I'd say they'll win it in the 2nd leg. That schedule, however, makes me wonder.
I remain as convinced as I was last year that Bayern are the team to beat. Will be interesting to see how far Dortmund can go - think they'll do Shakhtar now.
