5 debutantes though ... Pellegrini basically says he doesn't care about the game ... Chelsea's only chance for a cup this year is the FA Cup ... I bet the semi draw separates them and the gooners.

Yeah, but City, with their obscene wealth, should have a better bunch of kids than that. Good news for us 'ordinary' clubs, but if I was a fan of a wretched club like that I'd expect more, given the supposed commitment to da kids.

City were always lauded for their academy prior to the takeover ironically.
It's going to near impossible for a young kid to break through no matter how many hundreds of millions they invest in the youth setup (which scarily they have) as there isn't yet a culture of promoting from youth.
It will be in the summer when pep waltzes in and spends several hundred million from their FFP exempt coffers. It's currently a bit disjointed but getting by in the league off the back of Aguero.
Malaga does it again. I'd mentioned in the Barcelona thread (http://sixcrazyminutes.com/index.php?threads/barcelona.80164/page-3#post-1405296) that they seem to know their business when it comes to handling the big teams like Barca and Real Madrid. They're probably the best club in the league in the last 3 seasons (other than Atletico Madrid maybe?) when it comes to shutting the door on them.

Chelsea won the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth league but it doesn't really seem to have delivered many players into the first team. Mind you, neither has ours. Or United, for that matter, and they've won the U21 league twice in the last three years. And it's hardly fair to make a call on their quality based on one game, in which Pellegrini sent them out to be slaughtered against a top quality Chelsea team.
I suppose City are still playing catch-up, but the Arabs have sunk a load of money into the facilities and scouting, so I'd suggest it will only improve. And in fairness, the best young player to come out of anyone's U-21 team since Ross Barkley, is City's Iheanacho, who is head and shoulders better than anyone we have.
Is the "reserves" now basically the u21s? I can't keep track of what's what anymore.
Worryingly I haven't met a City fan this week who thinks they'll beat us! In general, although they're happy about Pep, they are very annoyed about the way Pelligrini has been treated, they also think many of the players have "downed tools" since the managerial announcement as Pelligrini is a dead man walking and Pep is gonna make wholesale changes to the squad.
They also think we'll muller them if Yaya starts as his lack of effort on the wide-open spaces of Wembley will leave them vulnerable. Also, they are convinced Sturridge is going to comeback to haunt them.
