according to bascombe has a 1 million pound clause in his contract. what the fuck were we thinking there?

It depends on who the next manager is, if it's Rafa I think Kuyt will stay.

take the million, free up the slot in wages and give those wages to someone who will more likely start everyweek

He's almost 32 and only has one year left on his contract so I doubt we would end up getting a great deal more than that anyway

He's put his shift in for us and can leave with his head held high and our thanks.

It's not about the money we'll get for him... but he'll free up a bit in wages.

Ultimately... if we really wanted.. we could give Joe Cole another shot as he could do a job on the right for us.

Getting both Kuyt & Cole of the wasges bill and spending a decent anount on a replacement wold be more preferable though.

He's likely to want to return to Holland at his age anyway or try his luck elsewhere.

Kuyt is definitely going, my dads mate's Grandaughter is in the same class as one of Kuyts kids, he's already given the school notice that he's taking them out of school for next year.

Bye Dirk, thanks for everything.

🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

Even though he hated them the last one was for Themn

I love how a few members of this forum constantly cliamed that if we were to push for the league title we'd need better than Dirk in the team on a regular basis.

Well we took him out of the team, got no fucking goals from his replacements, and finished 8th.

We needed a 26 yr old kuyt. This season he's been poor by his standards, even after Christmas (!). Shame his last season was a poor one.

I'll be pretty sad when Dirk leaves. He's been great, shown that he's adaptable and will do whatever job the manager wants. He was pretty much Rafa's perfect player in terms of following his instructions.

Always came up with the goods in important games.

Still more than "10 goal, 10 assists" Downing anyway.

You utter clampet.

you make it sound like I advocate downing starting every week.
ryan's reason for keeping a 31 year old, on high wages, who has slumps that literally last months - 'he's better than downing'

that should be our scouting policy from now on - 'is he better than downing?'

Why are you putting words in my mouth? Why are you making up debates that we never had?

You do my fucking head in.

"The fact I held talks with Feyenoord indicates I wanted to give it a serious chance," Kuyt told AD Sportwereld.
"But in many ways the gap is too great at this moment in time.
"If I returned to Holland, I would have to take an 80 per cent cut in my Liverpool wages.
"If you are 35 or 36, you know your career is almost done. But I'm only 31 and in the prime of my life. I still have two or three years left at the top.
"I still have the ambition and fitness to play at the highest level, a club in a major competition or a big club with European ambitions."
