I'm not entirely sure what point modo is trying to make. if his point is we need better players in wide positions that offer more craft and guile then I 100% agree. if modo is saying he is okay with players being more skillful so get a 'pass' with putting in a shift, then I don't agree with that, at all.

I also agree with modo that it's a bit rich oncy having a go at the suggestion of kuyt being dropped when oncy HIMSELF dropped kuyt when discussing the merits of new players for our team.

Here's how it started:

Kuyt's performances have been up and down the entire season. He's often great at home but poor away. Now we've got the result vs Man City in recent memory so I guess he's the best forward in world right now but I bet it'll be back to status quo in the next game.

Point is, we need another winger, preferably someone that is quicker and has better ball control and dribbling than Kuyt. I'm not saying that he isn't good enough to start next season but we must strive to get better players. Don't forget he's 31 years old in July.

Reply:
Kuyt is the quinessential big game player.

He may give the ball away, have a crappy first touch but he always turns up, gives 100% and scores in the big games.

My reply:
Can't give a flying fuck about giving a 100%. You'd probably do the same if you for some reason signed for Liverpool. It's the end result that counts and showing up in big games isn't enough.

So to reiterate: I think Kuyt is too inconsistent and his work rate doesn't make up for it.
That's all.

step back from the arguement for one second and read this back to yourself;

Overstating your opinion for a load of attention.

Great. Good for you. You got it.

Zzzzzzz

What about it? What I'm trying to say is that effort alone isn't good enough.
For me it's like someone not doing a job right but he's doing his best. His best isn't good enough.

Kuyt offers more than just 100% effort tho lad. You're saying he's dead shit because of this little thing and that little thing but they dont outweight his goal scoring, assists and general play. It's like saying Dalglish is a boss manager but we lost to Sparta so GET FUCKING RID COS IT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

I definately think we need more pace, craft and guile in wide areas, kuyt does a very good job but if we are going to make the most of our 35m striker we need players that will play to his strengths. if that doesn't happen (and let's face it we've been crying out for quality in wide areas for over a decade) and kuyt is first choice then for pity sake drop him when he annual slump (that you can time your watch by).

As many have said, slowly it's come to us, that we actually have three strikers - even if one is playing as a winger of graft. Still means he can can cut in and put a few away, which is exciting. Now goals can come from those three, plus Meirles and Gerrard. 5 proven, fairly frequent goalscorers in your team? typically, the other top teams, how many of their 11 tend to be goal scorers? seems like 5 or 6 is the norm.. another striker, and a winger and I reckon we'd be away in a hack.
Pardon me, but i have been critiscising Kuyt at RM in a 4 for as long as hes been here.
But given that we NOW see that Suarez can play at CF, LW or ST its irrelevant as we can continue with a 4-2-3-1 which is favoured by me.
I would never EVER play Kuyt in midfield, not ever.

I'm sitting here laughing at his effort. It's Kuytesque. But with a dash of quality.
Yours has been Nevillesque with a dash of Redknapp. Wrong, boring and shite.
