I have a daft way of expressing myself sometimes but I kinda enjoy the replies.

I'm not against effort.

The original discussion was about Kuyt and his effort and my point was that regardless of his effort he isn't good enough.

"But he's a big game player", they said.

So what, was my reply? We're loosing to shit teams like WBA, Wolves and Blackpool. Where was Dirk Kuyt?
Beating Man U, City and Chelsea while loosing against the likes of the above mentioned makes those great results absolutely pointless. Gained 9 points, Lost 9 points.

So I bring out Suarez who I claim hasn't been below 7/10 in any game he's played for us. I want more players like him.

Anyway from there on it kinda spun out of control. Hence 2007 100% effort - Nothing to show for it.

City have a whole load of quality in their ranks and little effort.
Torres was quality but little effort meant he was poor for ages, now it's hard for him to just turn it back on( not that I'm bothered)
Kuyt is a flipping hero far as I'm concerned, looks to me like he is helpi g keep people happy also always talking and helping. I love him and his mashed up hair

They also have to work for it; otherwise you just have people like Torres.

Look at Barca and Manure. Sure both teams have quality, but they wouldn't be successful if they both didn't have a remarkable work-ethic in their teams.

I'm not entirely sure what point modo is trying to make. if his point is we need better players in wide positions that offer more craft and guile then I 100% agree. if modo is saying he is okay with players being more skillful so get a 'pass' with putting in a shift, then I don't agree with that, at all.

I also agree with modo that it's a bit rich oncy having a go at the suggestion of kuyt being dropped when oncy HIMSELF dropped kuyt when discussing the merits of new players for our team.
 
It's not 'a bit rich' at all.

Kuyt does offer a lot to this team; but if there is an opportunity to bring in a top new striker or RM then Kuyt's going to get dropped. But that's a decision that won't be taken lightly as Kuyt still offers a lot to the squad; having a player that nearly always produces the goods when the chips are really own is very valuable.

Modo, 100% is a minimum requirement for all the players but some haven't been arsed, hence the results.

Make no mistake, what Kuyt lacks in skill he makes up for in workrate. However, its not only Kuyt but there are a few others who should not be automatic starters if we have ambitions to win silverware.

Here's how it started:

Kuyt's performances have been up and down the entire season. He's often great at home but poor away. Now we've got the result vs Man City in recent memory so I guess he's the best forward in world right now but I bet it'll be back to status quo in the next game.

Point is, we need another winger, preferably someone that is quicker and has better ball control and dribbling than Kuyt. I'm not saying that he isn't good enough to start next season but we must strive to get better players. Don't forget he's 31 years old in July.
