Klopp ready to sell Sturridge

So ever since he got his new contract his injury record has worsened and 'the bloke is a liability and a pisstake'

Please expound, and explain how anyone reading those words, in that context, should not have come to a similar conclusion that I did.

Take your time

Brendan, just because you've got learning disabilities don't tar everyone else with the same brush and draw conclusions on their behalf. I suggest you may wish to go and google Sturridge's injury record before and after his latest contract signing to enlighten yourself.

But the two aren't related.

His injuries are worse after he signed the contract, true, but they aren't worse because he signed the contract.

It's almost being forgotten what a shambolic situation the club was in with fitness issues before Klopp even arrived. I can barely believe the club still hasn't dealt with the lack of experience and expertise in the medical part of the staff, which is in disarray.

Lucas in the Echo today (piece about our youngsters), telling Sturridge how it is...

“We are used to this time of the year. You get more injuries and that’s why you need everyone. Everyone needs to be ready when the chance comes.
“But at the same time you have injuries, you have players coming back, which is a big boost for the squad, and hopefully we will be fine for the next busy period that we have.

“It’s the life of a footballer, especially if you want to fight for the club".

“You’ll never be 100 per cent, it’s a very rare day where you wake up and feel perfect – I don’t think it’s possible.
“So you just have to cope with pain and, if you can cope with some kind of pains, you play.
“That’s what a lot of players are trying to do, to cope with pain and help the team because we need it.”

And the two are connected in what way? He signed his new contract and decided to be a "pisstake" and simply become injured all the time?

Please explain the link, I'm sure it will be fascinating.

I think he's missing your point, seeing as you've laboured it now a few times.

I'll spell it out to break the monotony:

Mors, How has does the fact he's injured correlate with him being a "pisstake"? What relevance does him signing a new contract have? You seem to be suggesting that he signed a new deal and has basically taken the money and decided himself that he's going to being permanently injured so he can live the high-life, or something.

Please elaborate.

It's not that far fetched to think that someone might not be as motivated after they get a pay rise. In fact Klopp and now Lucas has eluded to it in his case. I'm not sure it's true in this case, but it wouldn't be the first time that motivation went for someone, especially when we're not doing so well.

I wonder will he be fit for the Euros?

They haven't eluded to it really, they've hinted that he might not be pushing himself through the pain barrier, which is completely different reasoning. No one has suggested he's doing it to sit comfortably on his fat contract, if anything it seems people are questioning his mentality.

It ends up to the same thing though. He doesn't seem to be motivated enough to push himself enough.

I haven't checked to see if it coincides with the new contract, but all I'm saying is that it's not as big a stretch as some are making out.

Klopp has said at one stage that he might not be playing through a level of pain that others may push themselves to play through. He's then said, more recently, that Sturridge is constantly knocking on his door asking to play.

Sounds like Klopp is saying whatever he thinks is best to get Sturridge back playing again. And we don't really know what the truth is.
