Fair play to Ivanovic and Chelsea anyway, I could be cynical and say it's more thanks to Rafa, but anyway. They've pretty diplomatic about it.

Its a possibility but its a bat shit crazy one at that, he could just as easily have alienated potential suitors and who is the say the club wouldnt back him again as they have done every time he made a cunt of himself

Theres gotta be easier ways to engineer a move than that
Well he threatened to take Groningen to court and did in fact take it to arbitration when they turned down an offer from Ajax.

Poor Suarez. He'd have been more suited to playing a couple of decades ago when players were more edible:

Pat Rice
Tony Currie
Trevor Cherry

The police were apparently responding to "complaints from the public" too, what a fucking joke. Even though Ivanovic doesn't want to press charges.

A number of poor Chelsea fans were traumatised by the incident, having seen it clearly from the Anfield Rd end.

You've go the plan the wrong way round. He deliberately did this to turn off interested clubs, so we don't have to keep responding to speculation about him leaving.

It would be absurd to sell a player who is that good over something like this. It was easy with Diouf and his spitting. He was shit anyway, so no big deal getting rid of him.

A team full of really nice guys who are great role models and never do anything wrong would be lovely of course, but I would rather have great players, even if they are a bit insane and cuntish.

If the owners are as smart as they make out then they should see the benefit of having quality players, even if that does come with some adverse publicity. Sponsors are hardly going to be queuing up to put money into a club that, although the players are all angels, never wins anything.

Jamie Redknapp says it was "an incredible act of brutality". Below, Ivanovic shows off the grievous bodily harm visited upon him to referee Kevin Friend.

That's the silliest part of all. The papers would normally have their pages covered in pictures of the traumatised 'victim' pointing to the terrible cuts and bruises, but as Suarez didn't leave so much as a mark their whole story is nothing more than a pile of mad ranty waffle.

Liverpool FC managing director Ian Ayre today provided an update on the incident that occurred involving Luis Suarez during Sunday's game with Chelsea. Here is what he had to say in full.

Ian, everyone is still talking about Sunday's incident with Luis Suarez. What is the latest on the situation?
I think the most important thing is that we acted swiftly yesterday. Luis issued his apology and then we spoke with him last night and then again this morning. We've taken action to fine Luis for his actions. Brendan has spoken to him and I've spoken to him, and Brendan will be working with him further on his discipline. You can see when you speak to him how sorry he is about it and he's certainly shown quite a lot of contrition to us - and as part of that, he's also asked we donate the fine to the Hillsborough Family Support Group. I think he felt like he let a lot of people down yesterday. We'll work with Luis - Brendan particularly - on this side of his character in his game. Hopefully that puts the matter to rest from our point of view and we'll wait and see if there's any further action from the football authorities.
Have you had any contact with the owners regarding this situation?
Yes, of course. With any incident like this, any major incident at the club, we're in direct dialogue with the owners, always. I spoke to them last night and they were happy with the way we were handling the matter.

Will the events of the last 24 hours have any bearing on Luis's future at Liverpool Football Club?
Not at all. It affects his future in the sense that we have to work with him on his discipline - but Luis is a very important player to the club. He's a very popular player with his teammates. As we keep saying, he signed a new four-year contract last summer and we'd all love to see him here throughout that contract. He's a fantastic player, top scorer and everything we'd want in a striker, so there's no change there. This is more about getting him back on the right track and it's largely down to Brendan now to work with him on that side of his character.

Alan Mullary on SSN has just said he seen intentional leg breaking tackles in back to back games in the 70s.
Revenge style.
But this is worse he says.
Sky News now have it as there main story too.
Earthquakes, explosions, terrorism and civil wars ain't got shit on a love bite.

That did surprise me a bit. You'd think that someone with a set of teeth like Suarez has would have done more damage wouldn't you? Especially as he clearly has practice biting people, so he should be better at it by now

I suppose the club was pushed into making a quick response, but before they did so all there was was the precedent of Defoe and a yellow card. Now the club has basically handed it on a plate to the FA to throw the book at Suarez. We really need some seriously sharp legal advice. I would've thought FSG would've got that sorted straight after last year's shambolic performance.

Here we go, in work Man United fuck head giving it stacks.

Think he was put off his Sunday Roast after the vile and cruel act.

We'd be mad to sell him. Our one world class player and people want to get rid over some point of principle? Fuck that. Did Sir Alex get rid of Cantona or Giggs when they acted like cunts? No, course not. That's cos Sir Alex is a fucking *winner*.

This is it, it's as though they were so conscious about last years fiasco, that they've come out straight away and said sorry, even Ayre has just basically admitted how calculated it was getting in there early, but once again they've missed the target. They should have done their homework and pulled up the only precedent and used it. As I said earlier, United would have.

Ask him if Keane deliberately breaking someone's leg or Cantona kicking a fan is ok by him?

But of course, Utd sold them for that, didn't they?

except the Ref saw the Defoe incident and acted on it so the FA were effectively prevented from taking any further action by their own rules

No one's saying sell him though are they? Only idiots in the media and refs etc, we've come out and said it doesn't effect his future with us. Quit with the Fergie love in, it's nauseating.

Well let's see. I reckon we'll sell him at the right price. And I hate Sir Alex more than anyone.

Exactly, there is no precedent in existence.

It's an awful idea to flat out refuse to overrule a referee. It's total nonsense.

You would imagine sponsors wont be lining up to be associated with Suarez either

They will if he is the star player in a team that wins trophies!

If we sell him this summer you can bet that he would go to a top club, and that their reputation, sponsorship revenues, success on the field won't suffer as a result.

Although it is not ideal to keep referencing Cantona, it is a valid comparison to this case. I don't United suffering in any way as a result of his incident, but I suspect they would have suffered had they got rid of him at the time

I have completely given up on footy. It doesn't give me any joy at all any more. Watching the premier league is like reading a story about a raped grandad.

Dude you're bipolaring this thread.
