Juan Mata transfer info via @BumperGraham. Agent involved in brokering deal says that #LFC and #AFC are bidding for the Valencia winger.

Yeah me too, strangely. There's always the attraction there, obviously, but they just seem to have stood still for too long, we've been up and down I know, but these are potentially exciting times for us.

Who the fuck are these tweeting folks?

Sitting around waiting for us to make up our minds as to whether we should buy a really good young player for 25M or a shitter older player for near 20M is driving me quite insane.

Buy Cazorla instead.... quality all round.

For some reason in and around Valencia you still get plenty of folks wearing Liverpool tops.... dont know why especially!

No news at all from the locals here either way.

I reckon he will go to Barca

That's been the situation for weeks - both clubs met the 20.5m asking price but Arsenal pushing for a player+ cash deal. Mata happy to come (5 year deal agreed in principle) but player and club waiting on U21 comp and Barca (/others) firming up interest. According to my spanish footy employed mate (well brother in law of a mate), Jim.

I still think we're in with a bloody good shout and it's not dependent on the Downing tfr.

You know, i don't see why barca would go for him when they're after sanchez

also, isn't he a product of the real youth setup?

*prays old allegiances stay strong*

so mata has the choice of barca and guaranteed silverware, arsenal and CL football and liverpool and no european football...

so stuart downing it is, then,

We have a great chance. Barca wont come for him, Arsenal are in the shits and we are on the up. Some players think longer than one season ahead...

Yeah but we're gonna win the Premier league this season. Barca and Arsenal won't.

My Spanish friends tell me that Liverpool is by far the most popular English club in Spain. Certainly its reputation and fame greatly exceeds Arsenal's.

For fans maybe, wonder if its the same for players.

Hope Reina or someone can work on him before cesc does.

to be honest I think arsenal will get him, they are in the CL, play attacking football and are based in the capital

Mata himself said somewhere that he likes Arsenal. If we're in for him id fancy our chances...despite what the media would have you believe we are still a big club, we're offering Champions League football and lets not forget we MIGHT actually keep Nasri and Fabregas...add Mata to that and we're looking good (although id expect if we sign Mata its to replace Nasri)

you're not going to keep nasri and cesc hence the reason whinger is willing to pay an excessive fee for mata.

no rope required, I just think arsenal will get mata and we'll get downing. I can live with that, however I suspect if that happens some people on this forum will have use for your rope.

Indeed, last year he said http://www.caughtoffside.com/2010/06/16/arsenal-target-makes-it-perfectly-clear-he-wants-17m-emirates-move-spanish-international-mata-drops-massive-hint/

Haha....tell me about it.....he has been on about it like a broken record.

I agree with Spider here, he is pretty much spot on.
Its not about being optimistic or whatever, Mata says he would like to go Arsenal and they can offer him all those things we cant (for now)

Norn - Of course the Gooners are a big club ... Only a loon would deny that. People are obviously going overboard with the idea that you guys are 'finished' as Gael "Can't Defend" Clichy has left, and there's strong rumors that Nasri & Cesc are gone. Don't know what will happen, but it's 50/50 where he goes. I guess none of the above really Mata until he's paraded with the scarf.

Ya....but this year he said he would prefer Liverpool.

And there is actual quote from him that Champions League is not all that important in the decision making process.

http://www.thefootballreviews.com/mata-would-prefer-liverpool-over-manchester-city/

Fuck off, the lot of you!

Fuck off!

Edit: Damn it...the quote is from "Sources".

But still...fuck off!
