It is.

I highly doubt Kenny would let him leave only matter of months after having to accompany him to a boyzone concert!

Graham Hunter was on Newstalk (Irish radio station) this evening.
He was asked about Mata going to Liverpool.
While he didn't dismiss it out of hand or claim any insider knowledge on the deal he did say that it would take a very substantial bid to prise him from Valencia. Their finances aren't nearly as precarious as they were last year so there is much less of a need to sell their talismanic player.

He also questioned whether Mata, who now has participated in two summer tournaments in a row, would be in the peak physical contrition required to hit the ground running and adapt quickly to life in the premiership.

Dad admits Liverpool, Chelsea target Mata will consider all offers

The father and agent of Valencia midfielder Juan Mata says they'll listen to offers after the U21 Euros.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are all keen on the senior Spain international.

The player's father and agent, Juan Snr, has said all transfer talks will be put on hold until after his son's Euro participation in Scandinavia.

"Until after the Euro, we won't listen to anybody. After that, we're willing to listen to all offers we receive," said Mata Snr.

"Interest Barcelona? From next Monday on, we'll analyze what is the best option for the future."

i fuckign hope chelsea aren't it for him. he the exact type of player to get them firing

chelsea and man city are keen on signing EVERYONE!

Every article like that relating to half decent player contains the clause:' The player that man city & Chelsea are interested in.'

I suppose it helps fill their word count

The article doesn't mention either team.

Didnt the man with the tan say this had a very good chance of happening.. Clutching to those words

14.22: This is interesting. We've made our reservations about Goal.com clear in the past, but occasionally they get things right.

And Liverpool fans might hope they've got their facts straight on this one, for they have apparently spoken to a 'source' close to Valencia winger Juan Mata, who told them that a move to Anfield would be very nice indeed.

"If Liverpool are interested, then the player would also be interested to hear from them," the source told Goal.

"While they are not playing in Europe next season, that would not be a hindrance, because Liverpool is a club with a big tradition.

"Yes, it's true that there have been rumours linking Mata to Liverpool but I can say that so far there has been no formal contact or offer from the club."

For mata to choose us over Chelsea and City, for example, he really must believe we're going places in the immediate future, whoever is doing the negoatiating needs to sell this to him ( and any other half-decent prospective signing) The fact a fellow, highly-sought after player left us only 6 months ago as our ambition didn't match ours, is disconcerting.

Let's hope the fact that we IMMEDIATELY replaced him with class, non- cunts to the tune of £50m + and then £15m + on a young english prospect, really sells the potential to him.

Not necessarily - it just may mean that Mata
a) wants to be guaranteed a spot in the 1st 11 - something not guaranteed at either Shitty or the Chavs
b) isn't a cunt
c) actually believes DA's that we will win the league this year.

I don't agree, Wizzy. I don't reckon a player like Mata, doing well already and with the promise of more to come, would come to us (or to any other club) unless he thought there was a real prospect of success in the not too distant future.

Looks like the scum are looking to bid for Mata maybe as a tactic to prevent us from getting him or pushing up the price. Mata appears to be pretty keen on us which is comforting. Throw Jeffren in the mix and we looking potentially awesome down the wings.

we'll bid 12 mill for mata, push it up to 15 when they dont budge then walk away, the scum will get him for 18mill

i called it first
