I haven't seen an individual thread on him. Considering I started the Jordan Henderson thread, I should stress by complete and utter luck. I am hoping this thread should have the same effect as he the player most realistically linked with us I would love to see at the club.

He oozes class Ryan perhaps in a way David Silva does. Guile, pace and can pick a pass. I can see him drifting between the lines and finding space. I bet he'll link up nicely with Suarez.

On a side note there was a video of Banega up here last year and Mata looked great it in. I wonder can that be traced back. I remember people in the thread claiming from watchig the vid we should be after Mata instead.

Yep, Mata, Martinez (both in the senior squad) and Herrara (first time seeing him) we're the stand out players.

Silva is a good comparison, Mata seems to be more suited to play "in the hole" that is behind the striker than on the wing.

David Silva comparisons are probably fair enough. Mata probably has more strength on the ball but Silva would have better decision making at this stage.

He played in the U21 game against England the other night and was the stand out player on the pitch along with Martinez.

We do that every night at training, I like that international rules apply; you get megged and you're in for 2 turns - thems the rules.

There's a Danish lad playing for us right now (that khl knows) who absolutely owns that circle and pulls out similar tricks to that Mata one.

He's pacy good positioning reasonable shot on him, can beat a man and is young.

Not as silky smooth as Silva but that ship has sailed.

I've just read that City are in for that Sanchez lad but dont want to pay more than 25M.... if we are contemplating 20M for Downing we should try for Sanchez instead... he would be better value by miles.

yeh yeh but City are in the Champs league...

City don't have five big ears in the trophy cabinet on the way into the office to sign the contract neither...

Mata would be an excellent signing in the same vein Torres was and Suarez is. He'll provide the balance, goals and the threat that we have been craving down our left flank since our heydays. If its at the reported 20 odd million its a good deal for someone so young with so much experience. I really hope this comes off, even if he's the only "marquee" signing I'd be made up.
 
We simply have to sign this guy. We missed out on David Silva, we can't miss out on Mata as well. If we sign Stewart Downing at the expense of Mata I may eat my own face.

While we're at it we should fuck off Charlie Adam and sign Javi Martinez. Throw Lucas in there too.
