What a weird Liverpool career he had. His first season he was solid enough. Defended quite well and supported the attack. He use to link up nicely with Suarez down that side and could be effective. I'm not sure what came first - whether he gave up on football, or the manager gave up him, but mentally he switched off and dragged his contract out.
Yeah early on he looked pretty good. I just don't think he gives a shit. When I lived in Valencia I bumped into him in one of the clubs there. I got chatting to him about Liverpool. Fair enough not everyone wants to talk to a load of ordinary people like myself, but rather than excusing himself or basically telling me to fuck off, he just kinda stood there half answering me while leering at anything with a skirt on.
I always liked him as a footballer. His main issue though was never knowing when to smash it into the stands. It's like he was playing 5-a-side. And then, as mentioned earlier, he just seemed to give up.
Fabio Aurelio could have been a great player for us. He almost had everything you'd want in a player technique, intelligence, ball control etc.
Too bad he couldn't keep himself fit for more than 2 games in a row.
It will pain you further to know he has not been released. He is still a paid employee, but we've given him permission to miss training so that he can look for a new club.
If he fails to find one, which is likely, we will look like idiots once again.
