Jordan Henderson

I don't criticise players without reason. Hendo has been superb lately, looking like a different player for about two months. Just one thing, I feel like reminding people that he's not 24 years old, he's 29 turning 30 in the summer. It's taken him 7 years give or take a year to reach the level he's at now.
I'm all for being patient, but that's zen level patience.

You have frequently criticised players without reason, regardless of how they've been playing. You've been doing it with Hendo and Lallana for years and you did it with Carra before them. Hendo has weaker games like most players do, but until very recently you've been on his case regardless of how he's actually played. And you're still at it, otherwise you wouldn't be trying to dump on him by the back door with this nonsense about how "long" it's supposedly taken him to improve.

Nah, but then I didn't think we would build a side so brilliant around him. I did stick with him when he first joined and was putting in fairly meek performances on the right of midfield. He had a decent attitude, was pretty bright and worked tremendously hard. When you've got all of them qualities it's worth sticking with a player. Despite signing some shite, I'm sure Comolli will sometimes think of the grief he took from Liverpool fans over the Henderson deal and chuckle.

I'm sure Comolli had a few celebratory drinks this year due to Henderson

All three of them deserved it. You can call it backhanded but the fact remains that Henderson has taken a long while to get to where he is now.

And sadly Hendo was part of that shit from 2011 until now.

But then won three trophies, was captain of the team who got 97 points and is now 13 points clear at the top of the table.

Things we could never have achieved with Lucas playing

When they deserved it, you criticised them. When they didn't, which was often, you still criticised them, partly because you were fixated on English players being overpraised and partly because you couldn't bear to stop riding your hobbyhorses.

And even if it had been true (which it isn't) that Hendo's "taken a long while to get to where he is now", it would make bugger all difference as long as he is at that level now. If you weren't still in the grip of this obsession of yours you'd know that.

Yep it was all Hendo.
And it was Lucas hindering the team before. Not the fact that we had 10 other wank players on the pitch as well.

But they were overpriced!
Fuck me, what have got out of Lallana?!
It's bullshit that I'm somehow against English players. Haven't said anything bad about Milner, Trent, Joe etc.
It's just underachieving players that bother me, especially if they've come with a high price tag. Just like Sakho for instance.
Also with Henderson I didn't start criticising him until his 3rd year. That's when I felt he was supposed to perform.
Lallana joined at 26 for 25 mill, excuse me for expecting brilliance from him.

Carra came through the youth setup so you can't use the transfer fee excuse there. There was an argument for saying we paid over the odds on Lallana and Hendo but (a) that had feck all to do with their ability as players and (b) you invariably went beyond that to criticise them individually over, and over, and over, and over again. This had its origins in your insistence (something we've seen from other Scandos on here TBF) that the English media overrate English players, but it soon went beyond that and became an autistic-level obsession about those individual players, in pursuit of which you've stunk out countless threads over too many years. It was when you hijacked a thread about Sanchez, with whom we were being linked at the time, to have yet another go at Lallana that one or two of us finally saw you'd gone off the deep end with this.

The Carragher one baffles me. He was mostly excellent for almost all his career. His last two seasons he was in and out of the team and not his old self but still had a lot to offer.

I don't think many people have been hugely impressed with Lallana really.

He's had one good season since he got here

I always saw Carragher as "the full back" and I always thought we could have done better.

It was because he clattered @Modo 's mate in some meaningless pre season friendly in Sweden

The "full back" who played centre back in seasons where our keeper one the golden gloves? Fair enough.

The team could always "do better". We could have Messi instead of Firmino. Doesn't mean Firmino is bad player. I completely get the Lallana criticism and a little bit of the Henderson criticism, but the Carragher stuff just makes no sense.
