It would have been interesting to see what the media had written if Utd had signed him.
Fair point that. If the transfers were reversed attitudes in the media probably would be too.

Jones went from being overpriced to a great buy...

I must admit , these henderson and Jones deals have shown me how little football i watch these days .I Know fuck all about either really but I've heard alot more about Henderson than i have jones . Henderson has two full seasons under his belt to Jones' one so i've no idea how you all know so much about Jones.

I'm probably repeating others now but again , if the deals were reversed , henderson would be the good value deal , he's capped in the full team etc etc and jones with full one season and no caps would be overpriced .

And anyway , decent centre backs pop up all the time , it's much harder to buy young creative talent .

For £16m i'm sure we can get better than jones .

Reading on some other LFC forums about Henderson. One lad said; "seen him play twice, average in both games. Meh to this signing".

Fantastic.
Oh fuck,
Kenny probably has't even seen him once. :🙂

I'm very pleased with the Henderson signing. I would have liked Jones too but what can you do.

FWIW, I think Jones will be a beast in the league but I don't think he's an upgrade for them in terms of the CL and he never will be. He's not a ball player from what I've seen and heard, not even as much as Terry, and he looks to me like a player who will slow up a bit over the years.

Well there we have it - some knob and a few people that have seen him about twice think he is pretty kack , whereas the combined might of LFC think he is fab, I know who I would rather trust.

Liverpool believed the hype and have paid over the odds for Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/8563634/Liverpool-believed-the-hype-and-have-paid-over-the-odds-for-Sunderland-midfielder-Jordan-Henderson.html

the bottom line is that Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is not paying for the here and now. He is paying for the future but £20 million seems well over the odds for raw talent.

You would expect £20 million to secure proven talent rather than be used to gamble on someone who looked out of his depth on his full England debut last November in the 2-1 defeat by France.

The 6ft 2in Henderson struggled at Wembley which was a surprise given that, according to Bruce, he was the “the biggest, the best young British footballer there is”.

Makes you wonder how much Jack Wilshere would be worth if Manchester United set their sights on the Arsenal midfielder.

That journo can go fuck himself. The hypocrite wrote a piece in Oct claiming Henderson is the next big thing.

If history is any guide, you shouldn't trust either one.

Hmm. He's got very narrow shoulders. And an annoying face. I was kind of hoping United would buy him for some inflated fee so we could all laugh at them.
It's true. I find it hard to trust people with annoying or funny faces.

can anyone get me excited over henderson?
If we are spending 20M on a CM kid you can beat your house on us spening big on wingers and defence.

Who arent we signing?

True dat. I've never seen this lad play, and according to 'reports' he's either the next big thing or we've been ripped off.

Henderson has had more than 1 good game in the Premier League.

And isn't a big vagina.

just looked on redcafe and the thread on henderson is unsettling. when he was linked with them they were really not happy: the overwhelming consensus was that he was very average.

I got the same message at a Barcodes forum.

But hey, in Kenny we trust and all that...😉

its corny I know but I was out with some Man Utd fans/mates of mine last Sat night in New Yor, and I said give me five. One lad raised his hand, and I took mine away saying "Oh sorry, I forgot you Man Utd lads can't do five.."

Childish enjoyment.

JORDAN HENDERSON will realise his full stunning potential when he starts working with Liverpool ace Steven Gerrard.

That is the verdict of Sunderland legend Gary Bennett, who reckons the Mackems midfielder needed the £20million move to become the player everyone thinks he can.

Henderson, 20, has enjoyed a meteoric rise since returning from a loan spell at Coventry two years ago ready to take the Premier League by storm.

He struggled after bagging his first England cap last season, playing in a Sunderland side which was hurtling towards disaster before a last-gasp survival act.

But Bennett, who has watched Henderson's rise to fame closely, reckons Kenny Dalglish has bagged himself one of English football's best talents.

He said: "People may be questioning the fee but if Liverpool want to pay that, then fine.

"Jordan left for Coventry as a boy but returned a man.

"Yes, he was inconsistent last season but you have to remember how quickly everything has happened for him.

"The lad has come from nowhere to become a Premier League regular.
That can have an adverse affect sometimes.

"He'll be pinching himself now. He has over-achieved already but he's still learning."

Henderson bagged just four goals from over 70 league appearances for the Black Cats - a poor return for an attacking midfielder.

But Bennett, who made 369 appearances for Sunderland between 1984 and 1995, added: "To go to the next level he perhaps needed a fresh start and Liverpool will give him that.

"Playing with Gerrard will be huge.
He can only learn off someone like that.

"He's a good pro - tee-total and grounded. It is a massive move but Dalglish has got a real player on his hands who will only get better. Jordan is one for the future."

Henderson succeeded with 1,334 - 81 per cent - of his 1,643 attempted passes last season. He enjoyed the highest success of any Sunderland player and had most touches (2,493) and provided the most assists for goals (four).

His work-rate and the influence of his parents, who have hardly missed a game since Jordan was eight and have instilled in their son level-headedness and a pleasant demeanour.

The lad just wants to play football and is such a refreshing, engaging young man.

Ged McNamee said: ‘We use Jordan as an example of how young players can make themselves into better players. We wondered if he would stay the course, but he’s done it and then some! His determination was always there to see. It enabled him to take the next step.’

Bruce said: ‘What really caught me was the way he was encouraging the older ones. He was running past them very easily and encouraging them to get going.’

Henderson was his club’s Mr Consistency in 2010-11, starting 37 of their 38 Premier League games. He won 41 of his 62 tackles and picked up just two yellow.

Yep. I don't think anyone knows how this will pan out really, we just have to hope Kenny has got it right.
