Jordan Henderson

I like this approach, rather than putting all our eggs in one basket and then moving from top to bottom and getting more desperate as we go we are taking a shotgun to bidding for midfielders.

I wonder how much we bid for him.
[/quote]

Sunderland have *allegedly* accepted a £12.5m bid!!!!!

Cheers Saul. 12.5m seems like a good fee.

Welcome to you and Gary to the site.

United we're linked to him in Jan.

He played well against us this season but that doesn't mean I want to splash out on him. Is he better than Adam or Mccarthy?

Based on the few appearances I've seen I'd say he could very well be.

he seems a talent. big, strong, eye for a pass, could be a good deal

Interesting.

There was huge talk about him in January re a move to man city for 20m odd. Then he made his England debut, played shit and everybody forgot about him.
My dad is a lifelong sunderland fan so I watch quite a bit if them due to some random affinity. He's a good player, Subderlands best, and when they were fucking useless over the last 3 months of the season he was the only one doing anything. Playing-wise, he's like a young Gerrard; Marauds all over the place, scores goals, and is a big crowd favorite.

He's got a lot to learn though so we're not buying the finished product here.

Still, I like him and that should be enough for everyone. Good signing if it happens.

My question is, would he handicap Shelvey's progress in the first team?

If he is better than Shelvey then who cares!

We should get that Messi guy.

Start a new thread please.

brilliant strategy, a team of midfielders, if fergie used that approach he might of gotten something from that champions league final

I don't get this - you complain about signing an average midfielder (Barton) and very capable CM (Adam), and then say this is a good signing? Where will he play? Ahead of Lucas/Gerrad/Raul? On the right ahead of Kuyt? I've not watched him enough to confirm what you say wrt talent (He always seems ok to me), but he's never stood out as a 12.5 million player (who gives a crap what Citeh want to spend, they over spend by 50-100% on most of their targets).

Hmm. He's got very narrow shoulders. And an annoying face. I was kind of hoping United would buy him for some inflated fee so we could all laugh at them.

Shot down by Koptalk.

Various individuals are today claiming that Liverpool have agreed a £12.5million bid with Sunderland for midfielder Jordan Henderson.

According to our sources, there has been no such bid (at the time of writing) and no such agreement exists. Liverpool are not negotiating with the player's club today.

Liverpool have scouted the player several times but today's claims are untrue and should be dismissed at this time.

Good post Bunny. Maybe our new acquisition strategy should focus on broad-shouldered, non-annoying looking people.

Wouldnt be surprised to see the Barton gossip as a smokescreen for this transfer.

Henderson is a great talent, still only 20 years old and full of potential. He and the rest of the Sunderland team was crap after Christmas. Sunderland need to balance the books so there could be something in this.

Didn't they do that with the Bent money?

My preference for the midfield purchase is:

1) McCarthy
2) Adam
3) Barton
4) Henderson

Don't push it.

I would have Ryan higher on the list if he just talked himself up a bit and had a bit of an ego and more self belief

According to The Times, big gap between #LFC's valuation of Jordan Henderson (£13m) and #SAFC's (£18m+). The Reds haven't made an offer yet.

I rate Henderson above Barton and Adam that's why.

I've never said we don't need extra midfielders. I have said though that we don't need shit extra midfielders.
