He is, and I do think we're in the process of shifting him. I think klopp was hoping keita would hit the ground running, but that's just not happened at all.

Shame like

Like ive said about Lallana recently, hes a good player, but we have moved on and are competing for the title. We have moved on and have Salah, Mane and Bobby instead of Origi, Ings and Sturridge. We have moved on and have Alisson instead of Karius and Mignolet. Weve moved on and have Robertson instead of Moreno. We have moved on and have VVD instead of Matip. We have moved on. Im not sure Lallana, Henderson, Lovren, Sturridge (nowadays) etc can come with us.
Hes a challenge for top 4 type of player.
If we want to move up we need to move on.

I don't have anything to add to all the stuff I've read here and in the match thread. Seriously pissed off...

Disappointing really as he is the club captain and he does the role well. Except the football part

Yeah.

Questions have to be asked of Klopp. I know there's something to be said for a "tried and trusted" midfield, but you buy these guys for big money and yet you still don't give them a chance, even when the game is crying out for their type of quality.

We were simply outclassed in the midfield area today.

Disappointing.

Anyways. I'm happy still about our position. 4 wins out of 5 over Xmas. 4 point gap. That's the toughest away fixture out of the way.

1 more tough away fixture left. United.

Let's keep the momentum going despite this little bump in the road.

All of this. Dont mind Henderson and Lovren being on the bench but they shouldn't be starting important matches for us. The team has improved. Our expectations have grown. They havent.

That was my immediate thought looking at the team sheet, hes got nervy and reverted to a known quantity.

That said its unfair to use this game as a stick to beat Hendo with, City ran us ragged in the middle of the park it wasnt just him that got outclassed.

I normally back him but it felt like he slowed every move and Was never brave or skilled enough to move the ball forward.

The thing is Klopp knows what he brings at this stage and imo we were set up not to lose. I never like to see us approach a match this way, we always fare better when we try to win.

and 2 really tough home ones with Spurs & chelsea.

14-2-1 should do it in the last 17.

If we had started with Fab, Hendo would have been better.
I love Milner, but he looked sluggish from the start. Gini was crowded out.
They did a great job and were in our faces.

I think by and by, after Gerrard retired, we improved rapidly but he didn't. He peaked during that Citeh red season. He knows it and we know it.

He has been trying recently and there was an improvement in how he tries to move the ball forward. But when the big boys come to town he gets shown up.

I really hope we do win it this season and we can give him that closure and take the chance to move him on.

He wouldn't make the starting 11 of any of our rivals that's for sure, maybe not even their bench. He needs the captaincy taking off him too and handing over to Virgil. He's not at fault for tonights result, but he is bang average.

Looks like everyone sort of heeded my call not to crucify Lovren and instead formed a mob with pitchforks to Hendo's door 🙂

Out of his depth tonight. He seems to think he's some point guard directing all our play but contributes so little going forward. Needs to throw more caution to the wind.

If we have to have a culprit for tonight's game, I think the closest one would be Milner. He is the most creative out of the 3 CMs who started and it was more on him that the others to connect midfield with the attack – don't know if it was lack of fitness after the injury or other factors, but the fact is he couldn't do it.

From the first minute Milner was looking over his shoulder at TAA because the poor sod was up against Sane, stood next to Lovren, with Henderson doing all the protection of a ripped Johnny.

The culprit is Klopp. I love him and everything but he got it wrong.

He did the same in the CL final regarding 'tried and trusted' when he decided to put on Lallana who had just come back from injury and was a partial cripple, when in reality it may have been better to replace Salah with a front man in Solanke. I could not believe it when the team sheet came out - Milner out for the last 3 games and he decides to start him. It is no good blaming the front three when they are battling an entire midfield and defence on their own - it was like 3 against 6 for most of that first half. Like you say what is the fucking point of buying over 100M+ worth of midfield talent and then leaving them on the bench ? It was a fucking ridiculous decision, and in my view this 4 point lead means fuck all because it don't give a team like ours enough breathing space. City are not going to let go now - just watch them go fuck everyone else up - they just go their mojo back.

I don't think the United game is the only dodgy one we have - we have to contend with Chelsea, and Spurs at home - these are games we could also lose regardless of our home record. Henderson and Milner are good to play against the rough English football sides below top 8, I think you need a Milner and Henderson for those games but fucking hell don't play the trio of Gini, Milner, and Henderson as your trusted formula against top quality sides - it is so static. If Naby Keita is not the man then fuck it - go out and buy someone this January that can play a pass and run with the ball - how fucking hard can it be ?

The game changed completely in our favour when Fabinio came on, and I blame their 2nd on Salah - he was holding onto the ball for two long trying to do fucking shit with it before it got taken off and they went onto score. Someone needs to have a word with him - that he does not need to do something fantastic in every game and how dangerous it would be to lose a ball if most of your team are not defending - and to release that ball when he thinks he is about to lose it - I think it turned too personal between him and the City defenders.

I feel so fucking shit - shit shit !!! - Unbelievable from our Manager, I honestly thought he was going to take it to them - but alas it was not to be, or too little to late.

I can understand Klopps thinking here. Fabinho has looked at his worst when denied time, which is what City do best. He is still coming to terms with the pace of the premier league so it's to be expected.

Keita has not really settled yet and Shaq is a very attacking option against the strongest midfield in the league.

Henderson is a good player, and he has controlled games quite well this season dominating lesser sides, against the bigger sides maybe he could revert to his 'I love running' excited labrador style he had in 2014? If you cant match them for quality, at least harass the shit out of them.

This seems to be the general match response by the way, which it should not be.

Henderson wasn't particularly bad in this game, or even bad, I don't think. Mane I thought had a worse game, for instance, but even there, I think about how little space there was in midfield, and I have some sympathy for his coughing up possession when he was the outlet, and a little less for his finishing. I think about gini doing all the things he normally does, and finding them not coming off, and I think the same. He was hounded.

This wasn't this midfield at it's best, nor was it our best theoretical midfield. But, it was a fucking pressure cooker in there, in terms of what city did. City have a really top class midfield, better than ours technically, and just as lethal counterattacking ability as us, so you really don't want to lose the ball in transition. Both teams struggled with that feeling.

Today they were really on in midfield, if not everywhere. They had a little more telling possession than us, but not much, and they did a little more with it, but not much. That was enough, because they are a top team.

How you get from there to desperately needing to find some mythic root cause, I don't know. I think if our midfield matures, we will see less and less of this particular midfield. It's limited in some ways, technically. Fabinho looked great when he came on, but no way was that the same as the first half an hour, which was played at an insane intensity by city. No way can you guarantee he would have done better, even if you think he's the future, as I do, and as klopp clearly did when buying him.

And keita and or an attacking 4 with shaquiri, there's zero evidence that we could have just swagged that, and a lot to suggest that we'd have been humped for our hubris.

Shit that we lost, but we've had a good run, rode our luck at times, and were always going to lose at some point. If we do win a title, Henderson will be part of the reason why, as will lovren being solid enough when gomez was out, even if they enrage us from time to time. The huge improvement this year is that we are able to have these arguments because we have options finally.

The way they closed down the passing channels/options was also exceptional. Think I heard Silva covered more kms than any other player THIS SEASON in this game, which shows you just how hard they made it.

With an AM. Whether Coutinho or Ox. I think the obvious choice at the minute is Shaq. We set up conservatively when we got beat early last year, when we were lucky to not get beat early this season, and we won three on the bounce between them when we played with an AM. I'd say that's decent evidence.
