I don't think it's written by him.
Dempsey was maybe worth stretching to £6million for.
it is a good letter - and clearly reasons fot their policy is outlined. now do us a favour and sell SG.I think this statement was needed. Fair play to John Henry. It's a sensible way of moving the club forward. I think we were one player away from a good window. Our problem was we didn't get the likes of Carroll off early enough to raise funds for others. In future, we need to get our business done before the final week, so that clubs don't try and hold us to ransom and we pay over inflated fees.
If only the Fenway Group had implemented this strategy before paying 35m for Carroll. We'd ended that season with as many trophies, but would have saved ourselves at least 15-20m (if were indeed still after Carroll).
"we have complete faith in Roy and the players he's bringing in."
"we have complete faith in Kenny and the players he's bringing in."
"we have complete faith in Brendan...
I can't see any clear direction here: BR says he wants a 29 year old, Henry says we're only buying young lads.
Shouldn't he have told Brendan?
Until they learn the necessity of pragmatism in football they won't progress. Managers have to be able to bring in anyone of any age if they can make a good case for the practical value and urgency of doing so. You can't just decide ab initio some rigid policy connected to age, or some other aspect, and expect it not to wreck certain moments in your team's future. Having a general policy is fine, and FSG's seems eminently sensible, but it cannot remain as dogmatic as it currently is. They seem to fear the exception to the rule will make the rule redundant. It won't. That's why it's the exception. They need to loosen up, look at particular cases in context and on their own merit, and trust the man in whom they claim they have faith,

Given it was previously publicly mentioned and everyone of us knew it, you'd think Brendan would have known
