@AnfieldHQ: Joe Gomez has suffered a suspected anterior cruciate ligament injury which could end his season. (James Pearce)

@AnfieldHQ: Scan results suggest there is extensive damage to Gomez' ACL & if confirmed he will be facing between 6-9 months on the sidelines. (Pearce)

Fuck, that is unlucky for the lad. Season done if its confirmed.

That's bad news for Liverpool. He made a promising start for such a young, inexperienced player.

I'm sure Klopp will have a good hard look at our sports science set up, especially as his style of play is founded on physical fitness. I know you can't avoid some of these injuries, but over the past few years we've added more and more people to our overall sports science staff whilst the players have continued to look tired after about 70 minutes, with many of them picking up and failing to shake off niggling injuries. And on top of that, it's been about nine months since our senior doctor left and we STILL haven't replaced him.

Apart from the couple who've just left, Morgans, Drust, Pons, McAuley, Philippou, several minor physical therapy assistants, plus Rydings has co-opted three assistants on an ad hoc basis. On top of that, several speccy geeks doing the data analysis.

Gutted for the lad. .

But I guess that means we might actually see a Left Back playing at left back this season...

If he can tear himself away from his girlfriend and twitter

Shame about Gomez. He's got lovely muscles in all the right places. Klopp's weird isn't he? Like Brodgers weird. Klopp feels your face with that random laugh though.

Ruptured my ACL at 22 in a Sunday league game, my knee was never right after that. These boys will get the best surgeons and rehabilitation that money can buy so they have a great chance of coming back as good as new but its a bastard of an injury. I think its harder on Ings than Gomez. Gomez will come back next year and still be a teenager competing for a starting CB slot so he is well ahead of the curve in terms of career development. Ings is losing a year of his peak and just as he was starting to settle in. Really shitty luck for both of them.
