maxi has given better performances but has been given more oppertunities. I think though, cole at his best is better than maxi at his best.
When Cole first hit the scene he wanted the ball all the time.. He played more central and had a bit more freedom to roam. He looked really up for it when he first signed for us..however he was playing central just behind Torres....
Then he got sent off and pushed out wide..it's as though that took what little motivation he had left away.. He is a defeated man. Similar to Babel - Tonnes of ability but is either trying too hard or happy being invisible as he doesnt want to be seen as a fuck up.

He was also arguably England's best player in Germany in 2006. Of course a team is the sum of its parts, but he has definitely shown he has the pedigree.

He was a focal point in the context of my previous post. He was the only player in our entire midfield/attack (not including Magic) that could beat a man and they couldn't let him get one on one with a defender. When he was at Chelsea they had lots of players like that and opposition couldn't afford to single him out in order to double team him when defending. In that sense he is a luxury player and not suited to play in teams that are are entirely reliant on him to create chances aka Liverpool last night.

I didn't suggest he hadn't done it (not for Chelsea anyway), I did however suggest that the quality of that Chelsea team facilitated him in a way that we can't (although hopefully when Gerrard, Suarez, Carroll are all fit and playing that will change).
