...Is shite, has no pace, no movement and makes Maxi look world class. Wed be better off with Sterling who already is a better player.

Heh.. he's better than Maxi.

Yeah, it's been a waste of time. I was quite excited too.

Ah well. Sell, sell, sell.

He plays like a player who thinks he's better than he is.

Which isn't surprising, because his entire country thought he was better than he is.

It's like buying Harry Kewell all over again, we don't need Damian Duff we got Harry Ke.....oh fuck.

His night was summed up for me in the last few minutes he has a chance to cross the ball in from the left, with his left foot but chose to cut back on his right, the move was over, he looks finished to me.

No way. Maxi is an intelligent player who thrives in a pass and move environment. He offers so much more than Joe Cole who if you include him in the team its like playing with 10 men. I was against this signing from the off. Had he something to offer, Chelsea wouldn't have got rid. To think some posters saw him as an upgrade to Yossi. Yea, right. Purslow's parting gift.

Harsh on mongy joe, but I agree about maxi. Even if he is the king of missed sitters

It's a weird one , at one stage his signing was heralded as the signing of the summer and many believed it was the catalyst that convinced Torres and Gerrard to stay but it seems the hype far outweighs the reality . He just hasn't got going and lets be honest , his positive contributions , goals, assists etc can be counted on one hand .

Suppose he could be one of these footballers who gets close to 30 and then just loses form and can't find it again . He played from a wide position for chelsea so i am not sure the argument that he needs to be more central carries . But I suppose we probably should give him some time in that position where his lack of pace is not so important and see if there is any improvement . Tonight would have been a perfect chance , he could have played close to kuyt with maxi out wide . It couldn't have been any worse than what we got

As shite as he's been, I'm prepared to give him *some* benefit of the doubt.

He's barely played, he's been injured, he's been in and out of the team, he's been coming off the bench, he's been stuck in a variety of positions, and he's usually playing with our second string team as well.

Contrast that to Maxi who's been playing with us for quite a while now, and we still get fuck all out of him. Maxi plays every week. Apparently.

makes sense

£90K a week can be better spent elsewhere, surely?

Flog him to West Ham and be done with it.

I was excited when we signed Joe Cole and though he'd bring us some magic. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt but sadly he has really shown nothing for us. Accept that its not gonna work out for us and get the 5M from WHU. Grant still wants him.

This. And tbf, Maxi plays in whatever is close to our best side most of the time, Cole plays in a midfield that usually consists of Poulsen whilst trying to supply ammunition for David N'Gog, most of the time.

Maxi is painfully shit, regardless of how 'good his movement is', as people seem to keep defending him with. He rarely sets up a chance, beats a man or scores a goal and he's even more gash away from home where he's usually anonymous.

I thought Cole looked bright at times, was always looking to turn the man and be positive, even if it's still not upto standard, it's better than what Maxi usually has to offer. Yeah he's been a big let down and his best is nowhere near good enough, but worse than Maxi? Please.

What does he offer kopking? Don't give me none of that "oh he thrives in a pass and move environment", because Cole has rarely had the chance to play in that sort of environment and is usually stuck in a side that hoofs it all game against a European minnow on a shit pitch while his main outlet is the likes of Poulsen and N'Gog. You can't really make a comparison, especially if we're talking about playing environments, it's hardly fair is it?

When has Maxi set up a chance recently or scored a goal? So for all this benefiting from pass and move, he's still either shit or anonymous and that's when playing in our 'best' available XI.

cole strikes me as the type of player that will improve the closer he is pushed to goal. he'll struggle if played as a winger who is expected to provide creativity and width. if we want to get new players then wages will have to be freed up so I think his will be one of the first names for the chop but it's entirely possible we wont be able to sell him given his age and wages.

Watching Cole is really frustrating; he does have good movement and can show some glimpses of creativity mainly but it all comes to nought because IMO he's trying too hard..he's come on with a big rep, and he keeps trying to prove his big contract...the problem is that he is never very good with the final ball.

I'm still hoping he comes good, and like we always say with pratically every player in the team ('he'd look better with better players around him')..he's probably running out of time though.

As for Cole being worse than Maxi, that's nothing short of laughable.

I do agree,, Maxi is a better player than some give him credit for. Mark says he has the advantage of playing in what is regarded as our best team, perhaps there is a reason for that, in that he plays a part in it.

I also agree that we can't be this judgemental on Cole yet.
When he has had a run of six or seven games, and still looks like he currently does then we could, but as Ryan says, he has hardly had much chance, coming into a game every three weeks, coming off the bench every other week for ten minutes is hardly conducive to showing any sort of form.
His season has just never got going, first the ban, and then the injury, he has been playing catch-up ever since, we might have to wipe the slate for a clean start next year.

regards

I think with the wages he is on we will have a lot of difficulty getting rid sadly even on a free. Its a shame that injuries have done for him because he did have lots of ability once.

A really strange signing for us also ..... a little bit too risky and way too expensive unfortunately....

Maybe if West Ham stay up maybe we can convince them that they have always been in his heart and that he wants to go home....

I might also add that he is fucking thick as pigshit.... Jesus he is dumb.... positively sub-normal.

I'm inclined to agree with that. I haven't quite given up on him. He is fit now, and will probably see more game time. He really has to start making an impact now, though.
