January Window Speculation

Or (if this is true, which we don't yet know) because they've made him an offer which none of those clubs is willing to match.

I don't get the Aubameyang situation at Dortmund.

They're a good club and he's a good striker. Why do both seem so ready to part ways?

Strootman would be perfect for us. A guy who is properly schooled in playing the deep-lying midfield role. Can tackle and win the ball, and has great passing too. At 27 he isn't a kid anymore, but he's got some miles left on the clock. Yes please!

I dont know man...if 27 then can we get for 15M? They were trying to flog him in the summer so he is maybe a Lucas ?

Rafa Honigstein: I can only deduce that they looked at #Coutinho's behaviour and said they couldn't sustain this for another 6 months #LFC

LFCZA ‏ @LFCZA
Honigstein: On #Keita, I don't see him as a #Coutinho replacement. He's a central midifielder, that's where the similarities end. Keita can play as a 6 or an 8. There is tremendous potential to be unlocked but he plays in a deeper position.

LFCZA ‏ @LFCZA
Honigstein: I don't see any direct replacement for #Coutinho, which is why Barcelona paid what they did. There's no such player Bundesliga, perhaps Thiago Alcantara who Bayern will not sell.

LFCZA ‏ @LFCZA
Honigstein: #Pulisic is a player #LFC have tried to sign and I'll be very surprised if #LFC don't try heavily for him in the Summer, but he's not a replacement, he'll be like Coutinho from 5 years earlier, not ready for the central role. He's more a winger/Number 10.

LFCZA ‏ @LFCZA
Honigstein: #Pulisic only has one or two touches and wouldn't be right, even if Dortmund were prepared to sell him, which they aren't, he wouldn't be able to do what #Coutinho did. #LFC

LFCZA ‏ @LFCZA
Honigstein: Dortmund revealed that they benefited from Barca's interest in #Coutinho in the Summer. #Klopp passed on a message to them to say that #LFC wouldn't sell, therefore ask a lot of money for Dembele.

LFCZA ‏ @LFCZA
David Preece (former keeper) also on this same podcast: My understanding is that #LFC will be bringing in a new keeper in. They've spoken to Stoke regarding Jack Butland but #Alisson is a name that's been rumoured and I feel is a better option than #Butland.

LFCZA ‏ @LFCZA
Preece: I think #Butland's been affected by his injuries, affected by whats infront of him defending his goal. He's not the same goalkeeper, had confidence and arrogance and was comfortable in goal and that would possibly make up #Klopp's mind on a new keeper.

LFCZA ‏ @LFCZA
Honigstein: #Karius (on whether he's beyond repair), Like Ter Stegen, made a lot of mistakes, has the all the technical ability to be a good goalkeeper. Preece responds to say that all his mistakes are fundamental and completely different to the keeper he was at Mainz. #LFC

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but if we are looking for a like-for-like replacement for Emre Can he's in Southampton (obviously) and his name is Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.

The 22-year-old central midfielder has had a rough ride this season and it took him like 3 months to even to get into Pellegrino's starting XI but after he has done so, he's more or less been their best player week in week out.

His potential is even bigger than Can's which was also highlighted back when they were both at Bayern under Pep, as he opted for the younger of the two.

He is a pass and tackle monster, with amazing work rate to boot, but he is really struggling to get back on the score-sheet. I think it'll come again but that's likely an area where he won't match Can. He is however a more balanced player with a high level of concentration and well developed leadership to boot.

A trio of Wijnaldum, Højbjerg and Keita would be one of the most balanced and talented midfields in the Premiership. With Mane, Firmino and Salah in front of them and Virgil commanding things from the back we'd be a more balanced team without losing our rediscovered and amazing attacking intent.

Just saying like..

Obviously he has had a few, very significant injuries. Do we know if he is the same player he was beforehand?

I'm certain we won't want to be going back to Southampton any time soon and if we did there's another I'd take first to give us an even more balanced midfield!

He's better than Romeu already and has got vastly more potential too.

In my biased opinion.

Sanchez to City.

We've all known that this was coming but Jesus Christ they look even stronger now.
How the fuck are we gonna compete with that?
