We need a goascoring striker to compliment Suarez and pacy right winger. Gerrard will be the attacking midfielder but who do we play in his place when injured. Charlie Adam is NOT the answer.

Buy a poacher. We need a hernandez/van nistlerooy/sheringham/etc

yeah i know, i just got in the moment of mentioning manc strikers through the ages

I reckon FSG will not spend in January because it's a difficult market and they've already put more than enough cash in.

If im honest I dont think they need to spend.
We've a good enough squad.
We just need to play the best players.
United have spent millions.........aaaaand millions......assembling their squad and its taken them years. We havnt spent that much NET since the new yanks came in. We had to overhaul a failing squad which weve done for a relatively low cost.
Its not always the choices most of us would have made but its early doors and we have to trust in the progression from here.
Step 1 - Start from scratch. (From a relegation threatened side btw)
Step 2 - Build.
We have to ensure we dont see another performance like we did yesterday and im sure the reaction against Wolves will be a good one.

I don't agree that our starting position was all that bad. Morale was at an all-time low and we had an imbecile in charge but what Dalglish did in the second half of the season proved that we didn't have a bad team.

The summer was all about getting rid of the dead wood (which we managed to do quite successfully) and bringing in some top class players to get us back to where we were a few years ago.

Unfortunately we blew our load on a group of fairly uninspiring players (bar a couple) and as a result I don't think we'll get much to spend in January.

My hopes rest on Suarez staying fit and Gerrard coming back to prove the doubters wrong.

Two things. The deadwood has gone so we don't need numbers. Unless we're going to spend BIG on real top drawer quality, i wouldn't spend at all. We've got enough new faces now, let them bed in. I've no doubt we'll see an improvement on last season but if we're still some way short of a genuine challenge come the end of this season, next summer will be the time to dip into the market.

Good to see we're linked with Jan Vertonghen today. Just hope the spending isn't over and with a good league position, we'll be able to attract bigger talents in view of next season and hopefully, CL football.

It’s a youngish squad that needs time to develop but that can’t be an excuse for poor performances.
You don't go from 7th and 6th in consecutive seasons to Champions. However, 4th place has to be the minimum requirement. Taking into account the big money we've spent added to the fact we still have other well established and renowned footballers at the Club in Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Gerrard, Kuyt etc.

We can’t afford to slip up too many more times – Spurs are getting better by the week and whilst Arsenal’s defence is shocking at the minute, they’re a team that’s more than capable of going on a winning streak and getting back up there.

If there’s no Champions League back at Anfield by next season we’ll just become an also ran..another Aston Villa clinging to their past but unable to compete at the top of the league.

We've lost one game. And the comparison with Villa is absurd.

You suffer from poor memory mate? We've lost two games. Out of of 5.

Why is it absurd? I said if...if being the key word, if we don't make Champions League next season which will be the 3rd season on the trot without it then we'll become an also ran Club ala Aston Villa. That's my view.
