redknapp likes players he's worked with before, so crouch and defoe were always gonna get the nod ahead of him. I'm sure Bent was their top scorer one season too, even though he barely started. Bent has proven he can score goals no matter what club he's at. 22m is excessive, and the boat has probably sailed now, but by fuck i would have loved him for 13m when he went to sunderland

but crouch and defoe weren't there when redknapp took over. it was bent and pavlyuchenko - bent had every opportunity to convince redknapp of his worth, and he didn't.
maybe redknapp was wrong. maybe not.

i suppose he did have his chance, but a scoring ratio of 1 in 3 whilst mainly playing as sub is a decent record. Good enough for me anyways. Who were spurs strikers for 2008? Keane, Pavlyuchenko, Bent, who else?
