That image is so good - Every single one of those reds is loving and respecting Jamie right there and he is giving it all back.

The final day will be as sad as the day when Hyypia played his last game for us. I hope we don't keep Carra out until the 84th minute or some shit like that though. It's his final game for the club, play him right from the start. Regardless if he has a good or bad day, it's a much more proper end in my opinion to a club legend's career.

Shite so it's that time already, when we wish we had a time machine to go back to a 23 year old Carragher.

Sad but I hope to see him coaching us soon

Fuck, that's really sad. My most enduring image of him is him cramping during the European Cup presentation. Says it all.

Im nearly in tears here.
Men are allowed to cry when their dad dies and sports legend retires.

Never will we see a player at this club for 20 years again.

Hes our Paulo Maldini and deserves the same status.

The guys at RAWK will be happy...
True legend, my 2nd fav ever player and still our best defender
YNWA Jamie

Saving my comments for when he retires. Still thirteen to go and possibly a final Final

I want Suarez or Gerrard to take a dive in the final game against QPR so Carra has a chance to score his last goal for the club, from the spot, in front of the Kop.

This news not only took me with surprise but also left me a bit sad.

Carra has epitomised for quite some time most that's still so great about Liverpool even during all these years of mediocrity.

Heart, desire, will of steel and a never give in-attitude. Gave us all a night to remember in 2005, and Carra had a big say in us winning that trophy. From the first qualifiers to the final.

To say your farewells to a player like Carra whom is an institution at Liverpool FC is never going to be an easy feat. I am already dreading his farewell game, I'll be all tears.

YNWA Jamie Carragher, Legend

Jamie for me is an ultimate old-school player in the best sense of the word. Someone who proves that character is even more important than pure technical ability. Thanks for the great memories, Jamie! You'll be an LFC legend forever.

I think it's a good decision. I'm glad he will not go to another club and I think the timing is right, because he will be able to retire on a high and on his terms. I expect him to start most of our remaining games of the season.

Bit surprised about this, seems rather premature. He's first choice again for the moment, and still has plenty to offer. Would think he still has at least another year left in him.

Gutted, just totally gutted. Proper legend of a player with epitomises heart. leadership and never say die attitude. Every year when people think he's finished he keeps coming back and proving people wrong. I guess he wanted to retire on a high which i respect but its still gutting.

I think he has a manager's job already on offer maybe. Tranmere or similar. Wouldn't surprise me anyway. He may make a very good manager.

If he stays on as a coach, I could see him coming out of it next season when we realise that our defence needs him.

I'd be very surprised if that happens right away. If offered a back room role at Anfield - Maybe with the kids at first I reckon he would grab that. What do I know though. I guess we'll find out in the next few months.

Shame, but good luck to him in whatever he does. What a fantastic career he has had.

I suspect we will miss him and thankfully small band of idiot critics will be proven hopelessly wrong yet again.

Would be nice if he stays on as a coach, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he goes into the media. He knows a lot about football and actually him and Neville would be quite good!!
