That is a real shame.

Hopefully the lizards have a coaching role lined up for him.

I knew he wouldn't be a fool and start hacking around inferior teams after a great career, hope he is put on the back room staff

regards

Strange that they say he will 'leave Liverpool Football Club at the end of the season and will be retiring from football'.

Not that he's retiring, leaving it open to a coach role. That statement says he's leaving the club and football, hopefully it's just a badly written statement.

It is always a sad day when a great player and club legend like Jamie retires.
Hopefully he stays with us in some capacity and moves up through the ranks as he is always talked about as a future manager being an avid student of the game.

What a hero. Legend. I wouldn't have begrudged him moving to the MLS or Australia for a couple of years for a payday. Fantastic player and a true legend. Fuck Modo.

Thanks for everything, Jamie.

I must admit, I'm quite surprised he didn't move to another club to continue playing. He enjoys playing and he still has a few games left in him.

Hopefully he stays in the game in some capacity. If he could fix our defence then sign him up as a coach asap.

Proper club legend won everything there was to win ba the leaugue.

I hope this doesn't turn into a thread were one twat tries to say a guy isn't legend Becasue he he kicked his mate in the chest.

Carra was part of some of the best times i had as a liverpool fan and should be respected.

What an amazing career - he kept confounding expectations - changing his lifestyle, performing well at right back and left back before establishing himself as a great centre back, and he served the club with rare distinction for so long.

so how good was carragher ? Where does he rate against our best defenders ?

if i remember correctly , as much as i liked him, i was hoping they'd replace him at left back towards the end of his time playing there. But he then moved to centre back and obviously he became the player he'll be remembered for now . Actually who finally moved him there ? was it rafa ?

Top 10 all time for me.
Right up there with Hansen, Lawrenson, Thompson, Hyppia, Yeats etc. Maybe technically not the greatest but who EVER had more heart.

Oh no! That's gutted me fully. I suppose it was always going to happen on reflection. Never forget his epic performance in Istanbul!

Nah, it was his performance in that semi final against Chelsea. He was covering everywhere in that game, so much so that if felt like we had two or three of him playing at once.

One of the few players that deserve Hero status at the club.
His cramp ridden legs in Istanbul are proof that the heart rules the body.

Ian Ayre - 'In line with Jamie's wishes we will wait until the season concludes before giving him the true recognition he deserves. We will also wait until that time to comment further regarding what involvement he may have with the club going forward'

Backroom staff coaching role for sure then. I have no doubt Carra is going nowhere.

An absolute legend and a fantastic servant to the club.
More heart and passion then anyone else.

We knew it could happen after this season but it feels awful to know he's hanging up his boots.

Hope he stays on in a coaching role as his experience is second to none and he'll educate every player with the Liverpool way.

Thank you for some of the best times I've experienced as a Liverpool fan!
