That so? I hadn't realised they were quite *that* strict.

The current big spenders really are going to have draw their horns in, aren't they?
There's some £10m or so you can pump into a club every year but no more. I hope the new rules are executed as soon as possible but I have my doubts.

But it will be against the Uefa rules
I thought there was an allowed overspend of 38m pounds per year?

Under the new rules mate our owners can pump in upto 45m in total over the first 3 years, after that that figure is reduced to 30m over the same period. So we've certainly got the chance to invest in the squad and stay within the rules (if our owners are willing to stump up the money).

45m euro over a three year period. Then it drops to 15m over a three year period
Just checked it Rosco, heres what it says. Either way we should be able to make decent progress and still stay within the rules.

* Benefactors are allowed to contribute up to a maximum of 45 million euros for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons together.

* This will be reduced to 30 million euros for the period covering 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Yep, £30m/3 years is £10m/year. Does it say how it's going to be after 2017-2018?

The acceptable deviation is EUR 5 million. However it can exceed this level up to the following amounts only if such excess is entirely covered by contributions from equity participants and/or related parties:

a) EUR 45 million for the monitoring period assessed in the licence seasons 2013/14 and 2014/15;

b) EUR 30 million for the monitoring period assessed in the licence seasons 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18;

c) a lower amount as decided in due course by the UEFA Executive Committee for the monitoring periods assessed in the following years.

I sit corrected, anyway the point is I dont see Henry investing anything extra into the club. Our revenues are strong enough to allow us to compete and we will do so once we clear out the deadwood and continue on our current path.

What happens if they fail to comply with this? Fines and loss of points?
Blocked from Champions League and Europa League I think.

I think he'll do a bit of both.

I do feel NESV is going to invest a good bit where we realle need improvement, but they clearly are looking at long-term revenues as the primary source for investment into the team.

There was a post talking about how he'd prefer rich Arab sheiks to these Yanks?

Disagree totally.

Liverpool is an excellent example of spending good money with pitiful returns; and that's caused by a combination of poor transfers and pathetic management.

If we really get the management issues sorted out properly I think we can really go places.

It also states that money spent on youth development does not count with regards to these rules. Does that mean that clubs can spend £10m each on a few 17 year old's and not have to worry about it (new rules wise) ?

That refers to facilities and cost of running them rather than transfers

I think anyone expecting significant investment from Nesv will disappointed. The club will spend what it can afford as it always has. We have better management in place now than ever before, and its that that will be the key to success, not the ten million that people will moan about that wasnt invested

Ahh! Cheers mate.

That and stadium improvements are exempt. If an owner was to improve a club with his own money those two exemptions could pay dividends

Good thanks mate and you?

One of my friends described his now wife, six months in, as having "no personality, but the great thing is she'll let me do whatever I want to her; she's a huge slut"

Now that's all true.

It'd be a little classless to mention it so close to the wedding though.

I am relatively happy at the mo Raf.
What forced your little sabbatical?

Just been quite busy these last couple of months mate.

Good to see the site in a much more positive state though, now that Kenny's back home. It was getting rather depressing reading about how shite we were in every thread.

Apart from Paddy and Brens departures have i missed anything?

At the very least we can now be happy that Purslow had the best interests of the club at heart.

And I really find it hard to understand why anyone is taking NESV at face value, even without this latest slur. They haven't done anything that was either difficult or expensive.

Singlerider had a sex change.
That was always on the cards.

I think the Torres deal gave an insight into their philosophy, and certainly backs up the words which have left their mouth.

I'm underwhelmed by their idea to renovate Anfield though. I think we need something big, new and shiny.

They spent less than £2 mill net in the January window. You can of course argue that we made a great deal, though that remains to be seen.
Or you can argue that the January window isnt the best for shopping anyways.
Frankly none of us have any idea how good or bad FSG will be for LFC.
They certainly talk the talk, but then who doesnt these days.

We simply dont have a basis for making any real judgements.
I expect to learn a lot more about them during the summer however.
For now all I can say is that they havent done much wrong, and it seems they have done some good, so I remain cautiously optimistic.

I think you'd have to be pretty cynical to think they weren't looking to spend in January.
