Is Shelvey The Messiah ?

Maybe i'm bias, Shelvey comes in one footed and with his studs down and SIDE FOOTS the ball, the reason he got sent off was because he lunged a little. Steven Gerrard does this ALL the time though and it's fine because it's Gerrard, i'm willing to bet the reason Shelvey went is because he's given himself a bit of a reputation of tackling dangerously. As for Evans, well he jumps in two footed with his studs showing with all his weight behind the tackle. The correct outcome of this tackle was a yellow card to Shelvey and a red to Evans, however considering the occasion, an occasion where you want to see these kind of tackles, a yellow each way would have been fine.

However this is by the by, I've always been a bit of a Shelvey skeptic, however he told Ferguson how it is, he's my new favourite player.

The ref have a fantastic view to Evans coming in with straight legs... It is fantastic that he let him play on.

Basically Shelvey got sent off because he took it like a man despite having two sets of studs going into his legs whereas Evans screamed like a girl.

It's the refs angle that got him sent off combined with a slight lunge downwards.

From the refs angle he can see Evans looking at the ball whilst he went in, he can then see the back of shelvey lunging towards the ball.

That was also the first camera angle used. I think it's fair to say he had advice in his ear based upon that camera angle.

Yes Evans tackle was also reckless, but without the benefit of a replay in slow motion shelves looks the red card instantly whilst Evans doesn't.

I can't see us appealing, they might point to the earlier challenge where he got away with a yellow. That said, if that was a yellow and then he got a yellow for the Evans challenge, then it's only one match. I think we'll just take it on the chin, we know full well that the FA would just stick to their guns and probably extend the ban to four games.

If he pulled out of that tackle I bet some would be calling him a shithouse coward.
No doubt it was reckless but he couldn't pull out of it either.
Ferdinand and Giggs played a huge part in getting the kid sent off.
Respect campaign me bollix, when Suarez went to Halsey over Van Persie's tackle on Suso he was told to get lost straight away.

Yep, Fergies hate campaign against Suarez has worked perfectly as per.

If he had of stayed down and screamed it would have been yellows for both. No red

if he had stayed on the floor in agony he would not have been sent off, it was pure luck which one of them got injured.

both tackles were the same, jonjo is just a tougher nut

shame as Allen, Gerrard and Shelvey was working beautifully

He lives in a bit of a fantasy land, young Jonjo. Like a kitten, he's easily distracted (I've never seen anyone else give post-match interviews stopping so often because he's noticed someone in the background) and I fear he needs to be told several times before anything plops into that gelatinous brain of his. But he's one of the most fascinating young players in the country - raw and volatile but genuinely imaginative, inventive, passionate and capable of inspired moments. And if he's going to err it may as well be against that maroon-hootered poltroon.

I'm warming to him every passing minute. People have said he was lazy but I've seen him cover some amount of ground this season against City Utd and young boys.

I realy gem and I think him and Allen will be our backbone for a long time injuries permitting.

We were level when he got sent off and a CM can never pull out of that tackle.

Didn't say a CM should pull out of a tackle, but there are ways to tackle that don't require you to go in as he and Evans did. To be fair to him I didn't think it was a sending off and if it was they both should have gone.

I probably would be more forgiving it he was a match winner, but he isn't currently and may never be. Where we are now we need people who we can rely upon and we can't have him in the team when he is liable to get sent off every game, which with the way he tackles is a distinct possibility.

Fuck me it is hard enough for us to score with 11 players let alone 10.

Our system does fall to pieces with 10 men alright.

I think Shelvey will become one of the players you cut slack to in the future.

It didn't yesterday.
We were the better team for the final fifty minutes with ten men

It wasn't luck Fox.
