the summer is almost here and we are going to attempt to bring in quality players (you'd hope) so putting aside the obvious motivation of money how do you sell a quality player the idea of moving to liverpool rather than any of the current top 5, bear in mind it's very unlikely we'll even be able to offer the potential player europe.

You can't leave aside money. City have attracted lots of top players with only.the Uefa cup to offer.

If the money is right they'll come. Particularly now when it looks like we're moving in the right direction.

Yep we're a harder sell I think especially without European football. Still, as Ross, says we're still a relative financial force which does count for something. We do need to be a lot smarter in our transfers though

I agree with Ross about the money, but that's a given really. If it weren't on offer no-one would come, regardless of other factors.

Depends ultimately on the individual player. Those who want instant bright lights probably will be put off by our not being in Europe, if that's how things turn out. Some, though, may have a bit more about them and be attracted by the thought of being part of this club's return to the very top. At least we'll know that the players we do sign are likely to want to come for the right reasons.

the reason I said leaving money aside is because the likes of city/chelsea will be able to offer more therefore our sales pitch has to involve more than money.

It's going to be money now, for the most part.

But we'll always be able to attract quality players, it's just probably harder now to attract the very best players.

But we need to spend our money more wisely......

There are a number of good up and coming players who have made noises about the need to play regularly.

Those are the type of guys we should be going for because that's one thing we can offer - regular football over a spot on the bench.

Read somewhere that the targets we have in mind are positive about coming here. We're still Liverpool FC, and I think a lot of players will be attracted to that and to what FSG want to achieve.

And we're Liverpool. We play at Anfield. We're the most successful club in England, and one of the most successful in Europe.

There are still plenty of players who will be in awe of that, especially as they'll be coming from clubs like Lille, Anderlecht, Wolves and Blackpool.

Read yesterday that Comolli has had and will have more meetings with the agents of Moussa Sissoko and Eden Hazard, as they're representated by the same agency.

Could be BS of course.

Do the raid on Fiorentina who have had a dodgy season.

Get Vargas and we'll have one hell of a left winger/back ... and his crossing is just something to behold!

he knocked us back before as well

Fali Ramadani says the Reds had inquired about the Montenegrin international at the end of last season but the forward wanted to stay at Fiorentina.

"I can confirm that last summer, Liverpool had asked me about Stevan," Ramadani told Calciomercato.com. "The deal did not go through because the player wanted to remain in Florence.

"I don't know if the interest is still alive, but I have not heard from anyone in England. Stevan is doing well at Fiorentina."

The 21-year-old sustained a knee injury during pre-season and has not made an official league appearance this term.

"He is keen to return to the pitch soon, and is keen to start playing again. This week, he will have a final check-up in Germany, and then he will put himself at the disposal of [Sinisa] Mihajlovic," Ramadani added.

"He could return to playing football in the first week of April."

Ramadani's revelation comes after former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez claimed he was unable to sign Jovetic because the club's owners at the time, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, did not have the money.

He told the Mail on Sunday: "We had one top-class player who was our target, Fiorentina's Stevan Jovetic. As far as I was concerned, we had the money for him in our budget. But then the owners said: 'No, no, we don't have the money'. Then he scored against us in the Champions League to help knock us out!"

then we can take maxwell or adriano off them

problem solved!

Jovetic is ace. Carrying a long term injury though I think

A player whose name begins with "JOV" makes me nervous.

A player, coming from (Italy ?) carrying an injury, makes me nervous.

Hang on, he refused our advances already ?

Sunny, have you lost your mind ?

Im in my fifth season as player manager on fifa at Real Madrid, and my front three are Jovetic, Hazard and Wilshere.
So i would take any of them.

Ps-Over the last week or so (regarding transfers/targets/expectations etc) Keniget has been 100% and as such i no longer need to formulate or opine my own feelings. Please take it that i agree word for word with Ken and ill tell yous otherwise.
Ta.

Ken, do some "Top 10" lists.

Was gonna say I agree with this but Oncy has just removed every drop of spunk from Ken's ballsack, so I'll let it go.

We attracted Suarez here in January.

Providing we're smart enough they'll be enough quality out there that we can attract.

Why do we need Moussa Sissoko for? Hazard just signed a new deal with Lille. So its a total bullshit.

We need someone like Defour. If we can sell Aquilani, Maxi and Jovanovic we can use that money for Defour.

Liverpool is not a hard sell and Comolli said as much in the January when he was talking to player's agents. Our reputation speaks for itself but players would want to know where they fit in and what our plans are. Liverpool is a massive project and players would want to come here. Adebayor said as much.

i'd have adebayor. providing he took a massive cut and was happy to be second fiddle to carroll

rafa is adamant we had a deal in place but the yanks wouldn't release the funds despite saying they were there for it.
